  • Tour Talk #08 - Lucinda Potter

It's Tour Talk time again! This week we're joined by a good friend and all round badass Lucinda Potter... Not only is she a touring audio engineer but she also has loads of experience as a vocalist and a performer so we get a really cool insight into how she developed both career paths simultaneously. Ā

Ā As well as the fun stuff we also try and tackle some important and prevalent issues - including taking the opportunity to challenge ourselves and the industry as a whole on the ingrained vocab within the business and approach to women in our workplace. Clearly there’s still a lot of work left to do here and hopefully regular conversations like this will continue to increase awareness and promote change.Ā

We ask Lucinda what it was like having to accept the complete closure of the live entertainment industry during the pandemic and how it affected her as someone who’s sole income is derived from that sector.Ā  We also get her thoughts on government / public reaction to it and if the term ā€˜Roadie’ undermines the importance and level of expertise required to tackle some of the job roles within live entertainment.Ā

On the less serious side we have blast hearing about the best sounding shows we’ve ever heard and where the best place to stand at a show is if you want the best mix. We cover bumping into friends in random places on tour, the virtues of Scotch Egg’s as festival food and we wrap it up by everyone giving me a hard time for trying to bring a little light into the world with my breakfast bagel.Ā

  • Tour Talk #07 - Rob Daiker

Well well well, look what we have here, it must be another Guest Episode of the TT Podcast. This time we're joined by producer extraordinaire and keyboard player for the Dan Reed Network, Rob Daiker.Ā

We find out just how terrible it can be having guests come to your shows... safe to say your friends are always the first to misbehave! We also learn what it's like balancing a home life as a producer with being a touring musician, the difference between playing shows in the US compared to Europe.Ā

There's some top tips for young artists considering signing with a record label taken directly from Rob's experiences of signing and working with a major.Ā

  • Tour Talk #06 - Have a Cigar

Come in here, dear boy, have a cigar. You're gonna go far... you're gonna fly, you're never gonna die, you're gonna make it if you try, they're gonna love you!

In Ep #06 of TT we give an honest assessment of the good, the bad and the ugly of Management, Booking agents, Promoters and Record labels within the music industry. If you're thinking of getting involved in the industry at any level here's some solid do's and don't and lessons of what to expect from all those working on the 'business side' of things.Ā

We have mild levels of fun doing so.Ā

  • Tour Talk #05 - Haunted by Design

Back for more are you... well here you go then!

Episode #05 see's the guys discussing whether their first experiences and ventures to foreign lands lived up to their expectations and how shows abroad differ from the live experience back home... their's some great do's and don'ts for bands thinking of making their first foray abroad here.Ā

The guys delve into haunted recording studio's, gigs in castles, beer fuelled UK / European crowds, making an album in Jamaica and most importantly for any young or aspiring artists / crew... how to keep putting yourself in the right place and making the most of any opportunities that come your way.Ā

At this point we have to extend a massive thanks to the gents at STS Touring in Manchester who have been incredibly helpful to Dario & Nate making any headway in the industry!Ā

  • Tour Talk #02 - Its All About Food

So you made it back for Episode #02 did you… In between our guest interviews the guys will be covering ground on their favourite things about being on the road, memorable (and not so memorable) moments and generally chatting all things related to the music industry.

What most people won’t realise about being on tour is that a good meal can go a long way and one of the greatest things about travelling to such a variety of places is trying out the local cuisine. Ever wanted to hear a grown man cry over how much he misses lamb curry, this is the place for you.Ā

  • Tour Talk #01 - Dan Reed

Congratulations on making it to Episode #01 of the Tour Talk podcast. This week we interview Dan Reed from the Dan Reed Network and cover topics such as nearly dying on the road, favourite gig experiences and what can go right and wrong when meeting fans.Ā

Dan graciously agreed to feature on the pod without any real information on what it entailed, for which both myself and Nate are eternally grateful. Hope you all enjoy, see you next week for Episode #02!

  • Pilot

Here we go then... the Pilot episode of Tour Talk. The podcast that gives you a mainline right into the heart of life on the road with tales and opinions direct from the artists you love.Ā
