"Why We Hate Funko Pops and Our Favorite Toys | Toy Federation Podcast"Welcome back to another exciting episode of the Toy Federation Podcast! In today’s episode, the Toy Federation team dives deep into a topic that’s been brewing for a while: why we hate Funko Pops. We know this might be controversial, but stick with us as we break down our thoughts and feelings about these ubiquitous vinyl figures. Why We Hate Funko PopsFirst up, we get into the nitty-gritty of why Funko Pops don’t make the cut for us. While they have their legion of fans, we have our reservations. Here’s what we cover:1. Lack of Articulation and Detail:Funko Pops are known for their distinct style, but this comes at the cost of articulation and detailed craftsmanship. We discuss how their simplistic design leaves much to be desired for serious collectors who appreciate the intricacies of well-crafted figures.2. Over-Saturation of the Market:Funko Pops are everywhere! We talk about how the market is flooded with these figures, making them less special and more of a cash grab than a cherished collectible. From grocery stores to gas stations, it feels like there’s no escape.3. Homogenization of Pop Culture Icons:One of our biggest issues is how Funko Pops reduce complex characters to a standard, uniform look. We debate how this approach strips away the unique qualities that make each character special, resulting in a collection that feels repetitive and uninspired.4. Quality vs. Quantity:While Funko churns out figures at an astonishing rate, we question the quality of these mass-produced items. We delve into the corners cut in production, the materials used, and the overall build quality that often leaves us wanting more. The Toys We LoveIt’s not all about what we dislike! We also share our passion for the toys and action figures that truly excite us. Here’s a taste of the collections and brands we celebrate:1. Valaverse Action Force:A favorite among our team, Bobby Vala’s Action Force line represents everything we love in a toy line – high-quality, detailed figures with incredible articulation and accessories. We dive into what makes these figures stand out and why they hold a special place in our collections.2. NECA Figures:From horror icons to beloved movie characters, NECA consistently delivers high-quality figures with remarkable detail and articulation. We share our favorite NECA figures and why they continue to impress us with each release.3. S.H. Figuarts:We can’t get enough of S.H. Figuarts for their incredible articulation, beautiful sculpting, and attention to detail. Whether it’s anime characters or superhero figures, these toys offer a premium experience that we appreciate as collectors.4. Vintage Toy Lines:Nostalgia is a powerful thing, and we take a trip down memory lane with some of our favorite vintage toy lines. From G.I. Joe to Masters of the Universe, we talk about the enduring appeal of these classic figures and why they still hold a special place in our hearts.Viewer EngagementWe want to hear from you! What are your thoughts on Funko Pops? Do you love them, hate them, or are you somewhere in between? Drop your comments below and let’s get a conversation started.
