Toy Power Podcast

Just like the Toy Power Podcast may feel like a cheap, hastily compiled imitation of a real Podcast, bootlegs find a way of attracting customers too. They often grace the pegs of undiscerning retailers and cheap stores alike. From the weeping TigerMan (beg for mercy, TigerMan... BEG!), to the Sense of Right Alliance, bootlegs can be a forgotten part of our childhood memories.

But perhaps there is more to this topic than meets the Robo-Changer-Heroes eye. No longer simply producing combinations like He-Man in NFL attire or cheap, inferior copies of the real deal, bootlegs have in some instances evolved into high quality copies, virtually indistinguishable from their genuine counterparts. The rise of 3rd Party, including legions of "Transformers", are becoming more readily available. Does this trend simply fill a hole left by some toy companies? A way of market testing certain products? Or is it slightly more sinister in that it directs money away from official licence holders, potentially damaging future viability of official releases? "On the charge of death of a toy-line we find the defendant... INNOCENT!"

Bootlegs can be a divisive topic with strong views from some Collectors. Join the Toy Power lads as they dissect, give it a bath, and then reassemble this topic.

In Episode 30 Trent (@Fugitoid32) enters the hot seat and is asked some of the toughest questions you'll get as a collector. Strawberry Shortcake or Rainbow Brite? Which is your favourite action figure representation of Chuck Norris? If you don't like pineapple on pizza, is it cool to have a toy version if you pack it out of sight...

This Episode, peer inside the mind of a self confessed Toy geek as he takes you on a plastic odyssey into 20 years of Toy Collecting. From how he met his fellow podcasters to the pros and cons of MOC, come with Trent as he shares collecting tips and some of his favourite childhood toy memories (complete with a dash of malt). Its all here. Thought no-one in the universe truely understands your collecting? Fear not! After listening to this, you will feel more normal than ever!

Then, its time to get all dressed up for awards night, as the boys dissect another bunch of categories in the vintage toy awards. Find out what Grizzlor looks like without his fur. Hey! Is that a nugget pouch? Snout Spout for President? Perhaps. And its official - slime, ooze and gak are brilliant, but which one makes the best fart sounds?

Holy factory fire, Batman. Discover all you need to know (and then some) about Kenner's groundbreaking Batman: the Animated Series toy line. Discover which vehicle barely made it out of the factory before it was engulfed in flames (don't blame the Joker), why is Robin looking so buff, and which toy-line was the first to provide customers with even case ratios between Batman and his Rouges Gallery (ok, yes its BTAS). Any good Batman variants? Will Darren give the Toy Power "thumbs up" on any Batman variants? How much did Combat Belt Batman cost in Toyworld in 1992? Is Penguin's coat made of cloth, felt or a felt-like cloth? All these questions will be answered in the Toy-line Retrospective if you are tuned into the same Toy Power Time and same Toy Power Channel!

Then, let Frank blow your mind with billions of quiz questions about the 10 lego blocks that Lego has produced over the years. Wait, have I got that right. I'm in trouble for this quiz. And was Frank's latest score perhaps the best action figure ever made. Find out in Episode 29 of Toy Power!
