Toy Power Podcast

Yes this one is all about our review of Justice League, but there's a whole TON a toy news to talk about first! Amazon Australia's not so smooth launch, some DC Direct cancellations and Oz ComicCon leaves Adelaide and Perth. After that negative start, we recover with pre-empting the big news from this week with Disney buying Fox and just what that means. Then it's TRAILER TIME with Infinity War, Anime Ninja Batman and Jurassic World 2. Some great new upcoming products from The Matrix, Bucky O'Hare, TMNT NECA, DC Multiverse and even Funko (but not what you might think!). Then we finally hit the big topic and cover Justice League from beginning to post-credits. Will we get an Ultimate cut? Did the directorial switch work? Is Steppenwolf the worst villain of all time? What was going on with the marketing? WARNING: We DO cover spoilers! But we know you've all seen it as many times as Darren, right? RIGHT?

As it turns out, today on the show we talk about very few toys. None infact! Because this ep is all about Thor Ragnarok. Or more precisely, all about the greatest character ever put to screen, ol' mate Korg. We all attempt our best New Zealand accent as we cover the newest Marvel Cinematic entry. And we do it all with some over-seas help our Kansas-mate Chris Wisdom (friend of the show). And in celebration of the Justice League movie, Frank provides us with a DC-centric quiz that ranges from the rediculously easy to the absurdly obscure. Can you get them all right? Now if you'll excuse me, I need to print off some more pamphlets for my revolution. Didn't make enough last time.... I'm sorry what was your question again bro?

Prepare for the slickest, most foolproof intro you've ever heard. Seriously, it's flawless. Trent loves it. We then delve in the Kenner toyline of M.A.S.K - Mobile Armored Strike Kommand. But not before we attempt to sing our way into your minds... Not sure if this segment will gain or lose us listeners! We look at the cartoon, the comics and of course the mighty toys of this wonderful line. Is there a chance it will be rebooted for the modern era? Next comes the Vintage Toy Awards including, the best modern Lego set. But are Frank and Ben psychically linked? There's also our latest scores to make you all jealous! Kome get some!

Led by the all-knowing palentologist Trent, the team look all the way back to pre-historic earth and The mighty Dino-Riders! Find out just how the Rulons and the Valorians used dinosaurs to wage war acrss the toy-ailes in the mid 80s. We cover the comics, the show (and it's impressive voice cast) and even the packaging. Darren also takes us through an impressive Blu-Ray release of vintage Superman before Trent bends our minds with a wide-ranging quiz.

It's Ben's turn in the hot seat! We find out just what it is that drives him as a collector, his favourites and some cracking vintage stories. Ever dreamed about opening 100 toys all at once? Ben tells us what it's like! Not even travelling the width of Australia could stop this collector from the hobby. Don't forget to check out his awesome toy photography on Instagram @shredder1982.  There's also a little bit of news surrounding Funko Pops and even a new TMNT arcade machine?!? We round it out with a look back at the spin-off to Go-Bots, the mighty Rock-Lords! You remember, those robots that transform into, erm, rocks...

Today the Toy Power Team pay homage too and celebrate Batgirls 50th anniversary. We talk about Babs role in the Bat-Universe and pop culture at large. Can Joss Whedon turn her into the new Buffy? Then come take a trip down memory lane - the memory of toys that never got made! Toys That Time Forgot is a wonderful acheivement of a book that takes on Delorian qualities showing us what could have been. Then round off the episode with Halloween appropriate quiz run by Horror-Fan Ben that has the rest of team running for cover and tripping on invisible items while trying to ecaspe their killer! It should also be noted that we actually recorded this ep on Friday the 13th... did all our podcasters make it out alive?
