TQ 017 Madina from Kazakhstan
Madina, 19, studies Chinese at my university. Her classes are on the 9th floor of a teaching building on campus. I also teach on the 9th floor, but my classroom is at one end of the hall and hers is at the other end. We occasionally see each other in the middle. I first met her as we were both going up the steps of my building. After talking with her for a minute, I asked if she was from Russia, because I heard a Russian accent when she talked. That's when I learned that she was from Kazakhstan, a country that used to be part of the old Soviet Union (USSR). In this interview you'll learn a lot about Kazakhstan and its people, such as the educational system and the people's love of meat. Listen for the words taekwondo and yurt.
