TQ 043 Caroline from Malaysia
Warning: This interview may be challenging for some of you to understand. She speaks with a Malaysian accent and she has a large vocabulary. Actually, her Malaysian accent isn't that strong, because she's lived in New Zealand for a long time, but it's still an accent you may not have heard before.
Caroline and Dave stayed with me seven wonderful days! She is from Malaysia, but has lived in New Zealand for ten years. She and Dave are on a long, slow trip around Asia. They traveled by motorbike a lot of the time in Southeast Asia, and now they are traveling by bike. Their website is eggbananatravels.com. Caroline is Malaysian Chinese. She talks about the different kinds of people in Malaysia. Her first language is English. Her Malaysian accent is very similar to a Singaporean accent. Caroline studied zoology and was a marine science technician at a research center in New Zealand. Listen as I make a stupid joke about her last name (Chin). More importantly, listen as she talks about the two parts of Malaysia, how Malaysians love to talk about food, and the ritual of the Dayak people she and Dave had to take part in before they went into the jungle in Borneo, Indonesia. She also explains why she's called a banana.
