When life gets overwhelming, whose voice gets the final word?

In Matthew 4, Jesus faces three temptations in the wilderness, and each time, He responds with God’s Word. But there’s something surprising about this encounter: Satan knows Scripture, too.

Concluding our Holy Discontent series, Dr. Trent Langhofer challenges us to examine our relationship with the Bible. Knowing verses isn’t the same as understanding them, and reading Scripture isn’t simply about gaining knowledge. It’s about allowing God’s truth to shape how we respond to temptation, suffering, and the voices competing for our attention.

From the wilderness to the cross, Jesus demonstrates what it means to trust the Father’s Word and give Him the final say.

In week two of Holy Discontent, we explore Jesus’ Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25 and the three things that often keep us from living out our God-given purpose: comfort, lack of effort, and fear.

God has entrusted each of us with opportunities to make a difference in the lives of those around us. The question isn’t whether we have something to offer, but whether we’re willing to use what He’s given us.

What breaks God’s heart should move us to action.

In week one of Holy Discontent, Pastor Aaron Pennington challenges us to develop a deeper burden for people who don’t know Jesus. Through Luke 15, John 14, and Romans 10, we’re reminded that reaching lost people isn’t just the responsibility of pastors or church leaders. It’s a calling for every follower of Christ.

Are we allowing fear, comfort, or the opinions of others to keep us from sharing our faith? And what would happen if we began approaching our relationships with greater boldness and urgency?

Jesus does the saving, but He’s called us to share the hope we’ve found in Him.

What do you do when you believe in God, follow Jesus, go to church, read your Bible, worship, and serve, but still feel disconnected from God?

In Connect With God, guest speaker Reece Whitehead closes out our C3 series by looking at three “broken soundtracks” that can quietly affect our relationship with God: shame, doubt, and disappointment.

Through the stories of Peter, Thomas, and Mary Magdalene after the resurrection of Jesus, we see three very different struggles and the same response from Jesus.

Peter’s shame makes him hide, but Jesus comes searching.
Thomas’ doubt causes him to pull away, but Jesus draws near.
Mary’s disappointment makes her lose sight of God, but Jesus calls her by name.

This message explores what the Bible says about feeling distant from God, dealing with shame and failure, wrestling honestly with doubt, and trusting God when life doesn’t go the way you expected.

What does serving have to do with being connected to the Church?

In this message from C3, Pastor Aaron Pennington looks at Jesus washing His disciples’ feet in John 13 and the example He gave every person who chooses to follow Him. Jesus, our Lord and Teacher, willingly took the position of a servant and then told His disciples to follow His example.

Serving isn’t about recognition, position, or simply filling a need. It’s about surrender. Pastor Aaron challenges us to ask whether Jesus is simply someone we learn from or truly the Lord of our lives. Following Jesus means being willing to serve, love others, and get our hands dirty for the sake of His Kingdom.

The local church exists to show a lost and broken world who Jesus is, and one of the clearest ways we do that is by serving one another in love.

God designed us for relationship. So why can finding real community sometimes feel so difficult?

In week one of C3, Dr. Trent Langhofer explores what the Bible teaches about Christian community, loneliness, friendship, and our need to be known and loved by others. Looking at the Apostle Paul near the end of his life, we see a man who experienced rejection, abandonment, and loneliness, yet continued pursuing meaningful relationships and trusting in the presence of God.

Through the examples of Luke, Paul, and Onesiphorus, we discover different ways biblical community takes shape: Luke stayed. Paul asked. Onesiphorus searched. And when everyone else was absent, the Lord stood beside Paul.

Following Jesus was never meant to be done alone. Whether you’re struggling with loneliness, looking for Christian friends, searching for a small group, or wondering how to build deeper relationships, Scripture reminds us that we were created for connection.

On Trace Church’s 10-year anniversary, Pastor Aaron Pennington shares a message from Luke 15 about the heart of our Heavenly Father and the invitation Jesus has extended from the very beginning: come home.

Through the story of the prodigal son, we see a Father who never stopped looking, who responds with love and compassion, and who runs to embrace His child when he returns. No matter how far you’ve gone, what you’ve done, or how long the road home has been, the grace of God through Jesus is greater than your past.

This Sunday also marked a defining moment in the story of Trace Church as we celebrated 10 years of ministry, witnessed people surrender their lives to Jesus through baptism, and brought forward our Return commitments, choosing sacrificial generosity to make room for more people to encounter Jesus and find their way home to their Heavenly Father.

In Week 5 of Return, Pastor Aaron Pennington teaches from Revelation 2:1-5 about Jesus’ call to the church in Ephesus to repent and return to their first love.

Sin can slowly disorient our faith, often one decision and one compromise at a time. But repentance gives us a way back. Pastor Aaron explains the biblical meaning of repentance, metanoia, as a reorientation of our lives around God.

Through Matthew 4:17, John 8:34-36, 1 John 1:5-10, and Psalm 103:12, we’re reminded that confession and repentance aren’t about living in shame. They’re about walking in the freedom Jesus has already made possible.

What has caused you to drift? What have you become comfortable with that God is asking you to surrender? And what would it look like to return to Jesus as your first love?

As our world becomes more digital, artificial, and connected on the surface, many people are experiencing deeper loneliness and isolation.

In Week Four of Return, Pastor Aaron Pennington teaches from Acts 2:42-47 and examines five priorities of the early church: devotion to God’s Word, unity in purpose and mission, sacrificial generosity, consistent gathering, and intentional community.

Pastor Aaron challenges us to ask whether church and biblical community have become merely possibilities in our lives or genuine priorities. He also shares the vision for Trace Church’s future home as a place that does more than host Sunday services, becoming a hub for relationships, ministry, meals, food assistance, and serving the Colorado Springs community.

Because we were created to know others and to be fully known.

What are we still holding back from God?

In God First, Pastor Aaron Pennington continues Return with a message about stewardship, generosity, surrender, and what it means to truly put God first.

Jesus taught that where our treasure is, our heart will follow. This message challenges us to stop giving God our leftovers and instead return our first and best to the One who already owns it all.

From Matthew 6 and the parable of the talents to Malachi 3 and the example of Cain and Abel, Pastor Aaron shows that biblical generosity is ultimately not a money issue. It’s a heart issue.
