Trailside Church

This week we start preparing our hearts for Easter by following along as Jesus and his disciples make their way toward the painful death that awaits him in Jerusalem. The world says to treat yourself and be true to yourself. Jesus says to deny yourself. Which path will you decide to follow?

Jim Valvano said, “Don’t give up. Don’t ever give up.” This week we look at  Luke 18:1-8 and learn of a persistent widow who lived by this motto. Jesus uses this widow to challenge the persistence of our prayer lives.

GOD intends prayer to be a team sport not just a private practice. This week we look at James 5:13-18 and see how our prayers can be as powerful as Old Testament heroes like Elijah!

If we want to see the power of GOD at work in our lives, we must pray. In doing so, we confess that we are completely helpless and completely relying on the infinite power, wisdom, and compassion of GOD.

About Music Track:

We should follow David’s advice and practice spiritual breathing at the end of the day–examine ourselves, confess any sin, and receive forgiveness through Jesus Christ. We should also follow David’s example at the end of the day–tell GOD what you are worried about and go to sleep as an act of faith that GOD will work on your behalf.

About Music Track:

Like David, we will often face stress and danger when we wake up in the morning. Satan, like Shimei, will try to capitalize on those moments by telling us that GOD has abandoned us. We must turn away from those lies and turn toward GOD in prayer. Then we must face our day with confidence that GOD is with us.

About Music Track:

Christmas is a season of waiting.

As Modern Christians we get to live with the same anticipation as those of ancient days waiting for the promised Messiah. We do not wait for the birth of the Messiah, we wait for His second coming. How should we live as disciples of Jesus while waiting for His return?

Join us on our journey and learn what Scripture says.

About Music Track:

As we enter into the Christmas Season and celebrate the prophecies fulfilled, we may bring our focus on the 1st advent of Christ which is the Messiah's birth to redeem His people. We shouldn't forget though that as Christians and Disciples of Christ, we are waiting for the 2nd advent of Christ which is when He returns and saves His people from our world of sin.

About Music Track:

This week we wrap up our study of Matthew 13 by discussing what to do with the insights we have gotten from Jesus’s parables of the Kingdom.

Understanding the mysteries of the kingdom comes with a responsibility to share them with others. As disciples of Jesus, we should seek to understand God’s word, believe it, obey it, and teach it to others.

About Music Track:

The inevitability of God’s judgment makes it all the more important that we take the message of the Kingdom seriously. We must listen to Jesus’s words. We must join the movement that is taking over the world. We must treat Jesus as the priceless treasure that he is. How we respond to Jesus has eternal consequences.
