Track: Inspirational Flight

GOD intends prayer to be a team sport not just a private practice. This week we look at James 5:13-18 and see how our prayers can be as powerful as Old Testament heroes like Elijah!

If we want to see the power of GOD at work in our lives, we must pray. In doing so, we confess that we are completely helpless and completely relying on the infinite power, wisdom, and compassion of GOD.

We should follow David’s advice and practice spiritual breathing at the end of the day–examine ourselves, confess any sin, and receive forgiveness through Jesus Christ. We should also follow David’s example at the end of the day–tell GOD what you are worried about and go to sleep as an act of faith that GOD will work on your behalf.

Like David, we will often face stress and danger when we wake up in the morning. Satan, like Shimei, will try to capitalize on those moments by telling us that GOD has abandoned us. We must turn away from those lies and turn toward GOD in prayer. Then we must face our day with confidence that GOD is with us.

As Modern Christians we get to live with the same anticipation as those of ancient days waiting for the promised Messiah. We do not wait for the birth of the Messiah, we wait for His second coming. How should we live as disciples of Jesus while waiting for His return?

We shouldn't forget though that as Christians and Disciples of Christ, we are waiting for the 2nd advent of Christ which is when He returns and saves His people from our world of sin.

Understanding the mysteries of the kingdom comes with a responsibility to share them with others. As disciples of Jesus, we should seek to understand God’s word, believe it, obey it, and teach it to others.
