Episode 5:
Your greatest challenge is your greatest gift. You probably didn’t understand the different levels of challenges parenting children can have when you first started out. We’ve all been at our wit's end, where our patience runs thin and that little twitch in our eye begins to act up again.
This sort of experience is exactly what scripture talks about when it says, “Rejoice in sufferings because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character, and character, hope (Romans 5:4).
Those sleepless nights when the baby won’t stop crying is your greatest gift.
Those moments where little Jonny is throwing a tantrum because his peas touched his toast, is your greatest gift.
Your preteen who suddenly knows everything there is in the world and knows for certain that you don’t, is your greatest gift.
These are all God’s plan to cultivate the image of Christ in you. They are specifically tailored for you to learn self-control, patience, love, and joy in the midst of trials.

- Don’t panic, this is normal
- Figure out what the problem is
- Remember kids can get cranky when they are hungry, tired, or if there is a basic need that is not being met
- Put them in their room until they calm down
After you help them calm down, instruct them what to do correctly the next time the situation comes up.
