The most faithful of people in this list still lived lives that were full of both victory and pain. But there is something better than what these heroes of faith experienced — the better promise, the perfection of our faith and their faith is Jesus.

Samuel says and does hard things because of a life of surrender. He was even surrendered by his mother who knew her relationship with God was better than anything she could have.

David had faith in God. Faith that made him trust in God for victory, trust in God for safety, and trust in God's promise. But in his own words (Psalm 51), David was most faithful when he acknowledged his sin and repented, trusting God for forgiveness.
