Featured guest: Christine Mason MillerChristine Mason Miller is an author and artist who has been guiding others toward a meaningful life for more than twenty years. Her experience with writing, publishing, licensing and teaching have established her as an experienced, compassionate authority on how to bring dreams to life, particularly those related to writing and publishing a book. Her online course, The Conscious Booksmith, has supported hundreds of aspiring authors on their book creation journey. Christine is the author, artist and illustrator of four books, each one distinctive and unique in its topic, scope and design. Her latest book, Moving Water: A Memoir, is now available for pre-order and will start shipping in January 2017.

Over the course of a decade, Swirly evolved into an internationally known brand with more than 1200 retailers and clients that included Target, Barnes + Noble, JoAnn Fabrics and the Girl Scouts of America. Swirly designs were licensed for a wide array of gift, stationery and home decor items and an illustrated gift book translated into three languages. After shifting her creative efforts to original mixed media artwork, she organized and participated in over a dozen gallery shows and exhibits and licensed her second gift and stationery line, The Christine Mason Miller Collection.
In addition to Moving Water, Christine is the author of Ordinary Sparkling Moments: The Art of Finding Yourself, Desire to Inspire - Using Creative Passion to Transform the World, and Plant Your Dreams and the Miracles will Grow. She is a regular contributor to numerous print publications such as Bella Grace, Somerset Life, and Somerset Studio, and her essays have been featured in Skirt! magazine, Modern Creative Life, and Dharma Mamas. She has facilitated workshops and retreats at venues across the country, including Esalen Institute in Big Sur, and was one of ten artists featured in Indie Kindred, a documentary film by Jen Lee about artistic collaboration.
Christine lives in a 100-year old farmhouse in Santa Barbara, California with her husband and their chocolate lab Tilda.

Tranquility du Jour Guest
Nathan Runkle is the founder and president of Mercy For Animals. Raised on a farm in rural Ohio, Nathan has long had a deep connection with farmed animals. After a local farmed animal abuse case involving a piglet slammed headfirst into a concrete floor during an agricultural project at a nearby high school, Nathan founded MFA to give "food" animals a much-needed advocate in his local community.
Since founding MFA over a decade ago, Nathan has overseen the organization's growth into a leading international force in the prevention of cruelty to farmed animals and promotion of compassionate food choices and policies.
A nationally recognized speaker on animal advocacy, factory farming, and veganism, Nathan has presented at colleges, conferences, and many other forums from coast to coast.
Through his work with MFA, Nathan has been an outspoken advocate for animal rights, featured in hundreds of television, radio, and newspaper interviews, including on ABC's World News Tonight, Nightline, and 20/20, CNN, and National Public Radio, and in USA Today, The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and the Chicago Tribune.
Nathan works closely with MFA's diverse group of members, supporters, and employees to develop and fulfill objectives within the organization's four areas of focus: education, legal advocacy, corporate outreach, and undercover investigations.
Nathan has worked alongside elected officials, corporate executives, heads of international organizations, academics, farmers, celebrities, and film producers to pass landmark farmed animal protection legislation, raise public awareness about vegetarianism, and implement animal welfare policy changes.
VegNews magazine has recognized both MFA and Nathan for making substantial contributions to the vegetarian movement, naming Nathan one of the "25 Most Fascinating Vegetarians" and one of the country's "Top 20 Activists Under 30 Years Old," and twice naming MFA "Non-Profit of the Year." In 2009, at the age of twenty-five, Nathan became the youngest person ever inducted into the US Animal Rights Hall of Fame.

I don't remember how I first discovered your podcast, but I'm sooooooo very glad I did. What I do remember is you were and continue to be my walking companion. At that time I was trying to get back to a daily habit of walking for exercise and you and your guests helped me get there. I loved it! It was so motivating for me. I believe when I started listening you had been recording for at least a year if not more, so it was really fun to start at episode 1 and then proceed from there. I couldn't wait to walk the next day so I could listen to the next episode and it's still that way to this day. Now my favorite thing to do is ride my bike while listening. The longer the episode, the longer the bike ride. So relaxing. Of course, I have to stop and take notes quite often, ha!! I absolutely love your podcast. It is by far my favorite. Thank you so very much for what you do. Through you and your guests I have learned and grown so much in my life in the most positive way. - Cindy, Texas
You are my ear buddy on runs. It makes it go by so fast. You were my first (and best) podcast. Loved how authentic you were on the Lisa Sonora Beam podcast sharing your own struggles. Just adore you! - Lara, Washington
