Hello and welcome to Transcend with Jami Christine!  

Our episode today recounts my interview with Andrae Smith, Jr. and we talked about what it means when we say things happen for a reason, the question of fate vs. free will, fate vs. destiny, and how free will fits in with the concepts of fate and destiny.   

We talked about how sometimes things are hard because they just are, and it's our choices in how we respond to these hard things that determine how things will go, but things also happen specifically to teach us lessons, or to test us, yet it's still up to us how we choose to learn and grow during those lessons and tests. We also shared what our definitions of enlightenment are, and how we came to that understanding.   

One of the things I liked most about our talk was that life becomes so much easier when we can step back and allow things to happen as they happen; basically get out of our own way. When we have this idea of how things are supposed to go to the point where we fight against life when it goes a different direction, life becomes a lot more challenging.   

If we can go with the flow even when things are going in which we didn't think we wanted, we can have a much easier, more positive experience. Our reality is created by our perceptions, so how do we want to choose to see the world, and how do we choose to see ourselves in it?

I just interviewed Amy Pierre-Russo of Excelsior Pro Coaching, our podcast covered impostor syndrome and limiting beliefs, and overcoming this to achieve your goals. We used the "hamster wheel" analogy a lot to describe how people are just caught up in the same thing day after day but aren't really getting anywhere. Amy is a professional and entrepreneurial coach who overcame her own impostor syndrome and limiting beliefs to start her company, and is helping others do the same. We talked about not comparing ourselves to other people's journeys, remembering that what works for one person may not be what works for you, and the importance of staying focused on what DOES work and what feels good to you personally, and follow that passion.   

We also talked about the importance of surrounding yourself with people who are positive and uplifting so that you can stay in that higher vibration. Limiting beliefs come from our insecurities, and we talked about how social media can cause us to feel like we're not good enough or not doing enough, because all we ever see are the highlights people share and post, and we forget that they're human with bad days and struggles, too. Every successful person has dealt with fears and limiting beliefs at some point on their journey, but they found a way to overcome it instead of succumb to it to get where they are, and Amy's coaching business helps people achieve success in the same way.

Hello and welcome to Transcend with Jami Christine!     

This episode is especially special, as it's from the recent speech I gave to the Red Bud High School girl's event at De Vinos Winery: Coffee & Conversation. We talked about empowering women and what encouraging them looks like, no matter what path they choose.   

Not only was this an amazing honor to be asked to share my expertise and passion with a group of incredibly thoughtful young girls, but more importantly it was also a chance for me to empower these young women with the lessons of my personal life experience.   

One of my favorite topics I talked about was how we as a community are placing judgments on each other because of our own limited perspective on what "normal" looks like. Not only is this unhealthy because it creates negative internal thinking, but it also creates unhelpful expectations on how others should think and act. It is so crucial for us to shed the weight of these preconceived notions of how other people should live. Doing so will lead to a healthier, happier, and more fulfilled community.
