Your year-end appraisal is one of the most important processes of your professional career. Writing your self-appraisal is the first step in this process. In this episode, we discuss why it is important to write an effective self-appraisal and some do's and dont's of this process. We focus on some mindset hacks and some operational hacks to ensure that you are able to create the best version of your self-appraisal.

'Influencing without Authority' is one of the most invisible skill needed for your career success. It is an invisible skill is because you would never see this expressed anywhere as an important skill – neither in a job description, nor in your annual goals/KPIs. And yet, time and again, we see people around us who do very well in their careers because they know how to influence without authority. It becomes even more important when your work has a lot of interdependence on other people, especially those, whom you don’t have any authority on - either direct authority – like they don’t report into you or indirect authority– like you and them don’t have a common boss, or you two are not in the same department.
This episode is divided into three parts. In part 1, we review the key skills you need to possess or develope to be good at this. In part 2, we will look at some short-term tactics, at a transactional basis, typylically when you need someone’s help at a very short notice. In Part 3, which is probably the most important, we will see some long term measures, which are useful if there is a specific employee with whom you have regular work dependencies.
In the sixth episode of Transforming Careers with Coach Abhijit, we disuss how using social media frequently at your workplace and during your worktime is affecting your career negatively. It is a problem, where the impact is slow and not clearly visible, but it has many negative consequences. In this episode, we discuss those and also give a few hacks to ensure social media does not become a problem for your career.

It addresses the most important challenge that most of us face - Inability to be consistent in our efforts. Professional Networking is one the most misunderstood skill required in your career. Some think that they just can’t do, its not their cup of tea. Some others think networking is a sure-short way of succeeding in corporate life. Also, there is enough material on professional networking in public domain – in form of podcasts, blogs, opinions, youtube videos etc. So how am I going to make this any different? I decided to look back at my 15yrs of professional journey and note down the specific things that either I implemented or I have seen others use very effectively. So all of it is first hand experienced by me.
