Self-management is the ability to choose your behavioural and emotional response. It’s not enough to just notice and understand the triggers for your emotions. It’s also important to manage, navigate, regulate or control yourself.  For example, it’s great that you know you are becoming furious, but do you have the self-control and the necessary skills to: 

• Contain your emotions?
• Avoid acting impulsively?
• Make a good decision? 
• Know when to walk away? 

There are two types of self-management (regulation/control)

• Emotional self-regulation: The ability to control or influence your emotions
• Behavioural self-regulation: Keeping disruptive emotions and impulses in check. The ability to make decisions and act in your long-term self interest in accordance with your values.

Having what you do in the form of work is one of the ways to create meaning in life. It is very fulfilling when you find yourself making progress in your work. To make such progress may require going through interviews to get you to the next level of your chosen career path. Such interviews some do find challenging, particularly when asked specific questions during the interview. Our values help us define the person we want to be.
You are already living some values - those things that have influenced your decisions over these years.
Make those values yours by consciously identifying and/or choosing them and consider if they are still serving you to be the person you want to be.
Commit to living your values by walking away from things that are not in sync with your values.
Be attracted by the things that are in line with your values.

Stress and burnout can be better managed applying emotional intelligence skills.
You need to first identify your stressors (the things that cause you to feel stressed).
Recognise how to notice the signs of stress - physical, behavioural, emotional and cognitive symptoms.
Name your emotions or feelings - translate your emotions into language
Connect your emotions to their source.
Objectively consider how to address or manage the stressors.
Take action towards managing the stressors where possible or choose a better response to the stressors.

Let's practice emotional intelligence in small ways in our everyday activities so that when we are presented with real emotionally challenging situations, we can show up in the ways we feel proud of.

We are taught that if we get  rich, become famous or attain great success in our career or business we will be happy. That is only true to come extent. If you achieve these goals at the expense of building good relationships, you may end up lonely, depressed, unhappy and unfulfilled in life. Good relationships keep us happier and healthier. It takes deliberate efforts to build and maintain good relationships. If there is one thing you must invest in, it should be the skills to build and maintain good relationships. The Harvard Study of Adult Development may be the longest study of adult life that's ever been done and the clearest message that we get from this more than 75-year study is that - good relationships keep us happier and healthier!
Good relationships are what you need to go after to have a good life not fame, wealth or high achievement.
