Emotions are neither good nor bad. Emotions are data - messages from you to you. We all have choices about what to do with them. Let's practice emotional intelligence in small ways in our everyday activities so that when we are presented with real emotionally challenging situations, we can show up in the ways we feel proud of.

The qualities most critical for success in the world today, things like Emotional Intelligence, Empathy, Influence, Persuasion, Collaboration and Communication all stem from self-awareness.
If we are not self-aware, it is almost impossible to master the skills that make us stronger team players, better parents, superior leaders and better relationship builders at work, home, community and society at large.

What is Emotional Intelligence? When we use the term Emotional Intelligence, some people feel alienated because they are not familiar with that expression. 
Research has proven that individuals with higher levels of social and emotional intelligence: 
- are healthier, happier and more productive
- have deeper connections and more positive relationships with others
- manage dysfunctional and debilitating conflict more effectively
- manage stress more effectively
- are more resilient, optimistic and collaborative
- etc

"The good life is built with good relationships".  How much value do we attach to building good relationships? What makes a happy life? We are taught that if we get  rich, become famous or attain great success in our career or business we will be happy. That is only true to come extent. If you achieve these goals at the expense of building good relationships, you may end up lonely, depressed, unhappy and unfulfilled in life. Good relationships keep us happier and healthier. It takes deliberate efforts to build and maintain good relationships. If there is one thing you must invest in, it should be the skills to build and maintain good relationships. The Harvard Study of Adult Development may be the longest study of adult life that's ever been done and the clearest message that we get from this more than 75-year study is that - good relationships keep us happier and healthier!
Good relationships are what you need to go after to have a good life not fame, wealth or high achievement.
