Vande Mataram- I bow to the Motherland/I salute the Motherland- goes the English translation.
Vande Mataram holds immense power to become a sacred national call for the freedom of our nation.
If such is the case, Vande Mataram cannot be called a phrase or term, but a Sanskrit Mantra, as rightly stated by Sri Aurobindo.
Indeed, a Mantra in the true sense, for the Vande Mataram call had been and has been till date sending a chill and terror into the hearts of corrupt rulers & authorities.
Case in point:
- 1905- protest by the people of Bengal against the corrupt decision of the Partition of Bengal.
- 1907 - Madam Cama unfurling the earlier version of the Indian tricolour, with Vande Mataram emblazoned on it, in Germany.
- 1908- Revolutionary Khudiram Bose, at the tender age of 18, sacrificed his life with this sacred mantra on his lips.
The list will go on and on. I hope you got the gist.
If this mantra, even to this date, ignites the fire of the spirit of patriotism, spiritual reverence to safeguard our motherland, there ought to be magical powers in this sacred chant.
What is the magic?
