Transmediacrity

The Media Maidenz have escaped the otherworld and are back with episodes 17-19 of Sunrise's 1999 mecha horror anime, Betterman. These episodes are back to Better-form with new mysteries, new villains and new ways that science befuddles the Maidenz. No stone is left unturned as the Algernon investigation continues and raises new questions. Is Betterman good? Is Akamatsu the best dad of 2006? Are the new Betterman figures a manifestation of Madiha's mind palace onto the real world? Would fetus-eating Peter Thiel be a good Betterman 2018 villain? Is Betterman the vision of the aughts that Esther dreamed of? Are dream sequences cheap? Will Sakura recover from the brutal world wrestling entertainment-style shitikicking she received? If your mirror self told you to square up would they catch these hands? Do you want that meat? Gird your t-cells, grab some amino acids and give it a listen.

The Hinoki Respecters have Logged In.

Betterman episodes 15 and 16 are kind of a dark time folks. At least there's a respite to be found in Miyako, amino acids, and animes MUCH WORSE than this one to put things into perspective. The Media Maidenz follow Miyako's plain language explanation of much of the series' events thus far, muse on how to get Neil Degrasse Tyson and Richard Dawkins to watch and comment on Betterman, adore Yannagi and Kaede's happy cohabitating relationship, and worship the ground Miyako walks on and her every pronounciation of difficult words (explained plainly). Akamatsu is there for like, two scenes. Sakura's life continues to be upsetting, and Lamia saves us from Keita and Hinoki's date with some real Chuuni shit.

We act like there's one segment on this show called The Petty Corner. This is a farce; Madiha is petty the entire 96 minutes.

Topics include: Video games are dead on PC; we don't wanna remember when Transmediacrity started; GACHA GAOL the Kara No Kyoukai Garden of Sinners event in Fate/Grand Order is pretty okay; we demand Fate Extra on PC; make the Fate fighting game "a jumper one of those" "like Smash"; how the Fate MMORPG would've worked; Esther is still upset about Monster Hunter; in the Petty Corner, Esther despises you if you're enjoying Monster Hunter World, and Madiha loses her entire fucking goddamn mind for a bit (she is sorry); nostalgia for old Monster Hunter; Madiha was good at underwater combat and wants it back; Madiha and Esther's first consoles and console game history, as well as their first animes and anime histories; Esther the playstation kid; VECTORMAN; Madiha is still lost in Breath of the Wild in her girlfriend's Wii U that she has now; the desire to have game journalists ambushed by gacha games on the Nintendo Switch; the shmup gacha that Madiha invented in her mind palace; the dead sea dockets; what the fuck was happening with Tenchi Muyo's airing on Cartoon Network; NEXT ANIME CLUB IS GONNA BE SELECTOR INFECTED WIXOSS EVERYBODY, YOU HEARD IT HERE; one episode of Yugioh is enough Yugioh; Esther WILL PLAY BUTTERFLY SOUP 2 (guess who wont); Madiha wants every visual novel to tell massive war stories in perhaps the least reasonable thing she has ever said on this show!; life's not fair; which of the buttons on a VHS would make the strongest power; DO YOU REALIZE WITH MODERN TECHNOLOGY WHAT AN INTRICATE CHAO GARDEN THEY COULD MAKE; everybody HATES Sonic The Hedgehog; what we're doing to kids these days; what are the good tank games (these don't exist); the life of pablo; we're happy that despite everything the listeners watch the show; THE FINAL YAHOO.

Happy anniversary, Transmediacrity. You know what we're not celebrating? Casuls. You're everywhere, and you ruined everything.

The Media Maidenz return to the swamp with episodes 12-14 of Betterman. We got all the stuff you crave; bugs, pheromones, nectars. Mouth play.

Halfway through the series, it's time to ask the tough questions. Did Yonetani demand the kink, and did he receive it? Are plants able to read human minds like polygraph machines (??)? Are mythical greek names overplayed? Should BPL foment communist revolution as a means to feed an expanding population? Is Betterman getting better(man) at scene spatiality? Is Betterman actually after all this time, a Kaiju show? Are the Neuronoids actually cool? Is the Miyako mouth stuff scene the worst scene in the anime -- and the worst sentence ever said in these podcast descriptions?

In this house we respect Shigeru Akamatsu. Go off, King. Slay.

The internet's no. 1 prestige podcast about Sunrise's "Betterman" returns with episodes 10 and 11. Both Media Maidenz have contracted Algernon and are struggling to do the podcast, but they still find time to comment on a possible Betterman reboot where Keita becomes a "winged boobs man"; the profitability of Akamatsu Industries; Keita and Hinoki's relationship to Neuronoid data collection; the first actually horrifying thing in Betterman; the secrets and enigmas of the clip show episode; MOUTH STUFF; and finally a trip to Miyako Land.

2018 is a new year that happened. We all wish these would stop coming, but like video game releases, they're mysterious and inexorable.

The Media Maidenz are fully back on their bullshit in this episode of Transmediacrity. Esther improves her APM in Starcraft II; the girls are beset by elite gamers for tackling that most controversial topic, the future of competitive RTS; Madiha struggles to be the 4th best last woman standing in Playerunknown's Battlegrounds; we talk about Persona again, both the big kind and the little kind; the Anime of the Year goes to Princess Principal, the only good steampunk; Madiha talks Legend of the Galactic Heroes and that most fanciful question, "what if war was bad?"; Esther loves the military food depicted in the Solstice War. None of you sent us any questions. Shameful display.
