We've spent some time testing EV specific tires (or tyres) over the years, and one question that's come up again and again relates to off-road capable tires for larger EVs like pickup trucks and SUVs.
General wisdom says that the more aggressive the tread and more capable the off-road tire is, the less efficient and useful it is on the road.
But can there be an EV-friendly off-road tire that offers both? We're starting a new long-term loaner with Nokian Tyres to test out their Outpost nAT tires to find out.

As tariffs make EVs more expensive in the U.S. - and demand for cars continues to grow (especially EVs), we're expecting the prices of used EVs to start going up quite dramatically, especially considering that searches for used EVs are now at an all-time high.
(And sure, used EV prices are 40% lower than they were during the early days of the pandemic, but again, we think there's evidence to suggest that's about to change.
So today, we're reminding folks where the market currently is, where we think it's going, and offering some tips and trips for both buyers and sellers of used EVs.

This year we have a chance to move the needle a little on green steel adoption in the automotive industry. There's a proposal to make one of the largest automakers in the US be way more transparent about it's green steel adoption - and climate change goals in general.
But why does green steel matter, and what can we do about it?

If you invest in the stock market - either directly or indirectly - you get to benefit financially when a company does well. If it has a good quarter and turns a decent profit, your shares increase in value. If it announces a new product that gets everyone excited, your shares become more in demand, and thus the share price goes up.
And of course, when things don't go so well, the value of those shares can go down. And while most people view shareholding in a company as a passive activity - they benefit or suffer based on a company's stock price - shareholders can often play a more active part in a company's future by voting at Shareholder Meetings - and if they have enough shares, make proposals to be voted on at those meetings.
And in recent years we've seen more and more individuals (retail investors) and organizations (institutional investors) make proposals for vote at shareholder meetings that can impact a company's future trajectory, its products, how it treats its employees, and how it is viewed in the world. And if you're wanting the world to be a cleaner, greener, safer, smarter, and more equitable place, campaigning for change using Shareholder Activism can make some pretty big impacts on companies that would otherwise... just do whatever makes them the most money, consequences be damned.
So today, we're examining what Shareholder Activism is, explain the basics of what a shareholder proposal is, and ask what you can do to impact a company's future if you're someone with a shareholding in it.

Back in 2021, Kate started work on a properly DIY conversion of her 1969 Morris Minor 1000 to an EV. In the past 4 episodes she talked through the build plan, and the build up of the OpenInverter board from parts, and its installation in a Toyota hybrid inverter.
But then things went quiet.
Today, Kate finally talks about why, and what the future is for this project.

A few weeks ago, we made a video on the channel about Lidar - and its place in semi-autonomous vehicles. And in that video, Kate disclosed that both she and Nikki drive vehicles without LIDAR.
So today, we thought it about time we give you an update on the Chevrolet Bolt EV fitted with a Comma 3 and running a version of Frogpilot called Starpilot, Kate's Kia e-Niro and its Comma 3 unit, and finally, the long-awaited update to Ford's BlueCruise to version 1.4 thanks to an over-the-air update.

A few weeks back in TEN we covered a paper that explores a novel organic cathode for use in Sodium Ion batteries. A cathode that has the advantage of being made from super accessible and cheap materials, and potentially produces a battery with an incredible service life.
Y'all asked us to look at the paper and go into a bit more depth - explaining exactly what it shows, what they found, and why it's important.
Your wish is our command.
Well, if we want to.
Which we did.

At the end of March, Aptera made its first long-distance road trip of its production-intent solar electric car. Not only did it post some impressive efficiency figures (even if you take into account the net downhill nature of the route), but it showed how far the company's progress toward market readiness has come.
But is society ready for a quirky, fun three-wheeler? And is there a future where a car like an Aptera might make sense?
Given everything goin on in the world right now, we think things might end up changing enough to make it possible.
