Automakers have a nasty habit of not making their work-oriented vehicles available for journalists to try - and for the most part, automakers send us review vehicles that are as high-spec as possible.
Which is why, last year, when we learned the Chevrolet Silverado EV WT wasn't on Chevrolet's press fleet, we managed to hire one to carry out a quick drive while visiting Southern California.
Our resulting verdict was pretty complimentary - we liked its basic, perfunctory setup, although we weren't fans of the sticker price. - https://youtu.be/lI3dWIaT8IA
A few weeks ago, we got our hands on Chevrolet's other-end of the Silverado EV lineup - the Silverado EV RST. But is it worth the extra money? Do we like it? Or would we rather have the world truck instead?

Earlier this week, as feared, the U.S. Federal Government halted the funding of all charging station deployments that were funded - or planned - under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure plan (AKA NEVI). Funded by money allocated in by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of November 2021, NEVI program funding was being released to U.S. states on a yearly basis from 2022 through 2025, with funding contingent on some pretty strict rules.
The latest in a cruel line of illegal actions from the White House (funds already appropriated cannot, under Federal law, be legally withheld) it's already causing havoc in the EV charging industry. And while the Secretary of Transportation has promised existing programs will be funded, that's not what we're hearing from our contacts in the industry.
So today, here's what we know about the halt, along with some history behind the program. We dispel one often-quoted myth about funding that's been quoted again and again by anti-EV politicians - and we ask how we, as EV owners and advocates, can ensure we do everything we can to keep networks alive, survive the cull of charging network support, and continue to drive electric regardless.

While we've stated that we do not plan on giving Tesla any coverage until it parts company with its CEO, the last few weeks in the U.S. have caused us at the channel to reach something of a tipping point - in which we have to ask why so many automotive journalists and automotive professionals are remaining quiet on the current actions of Tesla CEO Elon Musk - and his illegal role within the White House.
We have some theories - and they're not good.

Here at Transport Evolved, we're eager to lean heavily into encouraging everyone stop strive for a cleaner, greener, safer, smarter and more equitable future. And even though the horrors of the U.S. political system and its quick-march toward authoritarianism, we're going to try and produce content in between our deep dives that gives us - and hopefully you - a bit of hope for the future.
Today is one such video. We're giving you an update on our Vectrix VX-1 which, shortly after the last U.S. Ingauration, we removed the old battery pack from. And while we've yet to order the new charging unit (thanks to a company we no-longer work with for payroll taking money it wasn't allowed to) we're keeping ourselves busy with parts of the bike.

In the ten days since taking office in the U.S., President Donald Trump has caused significant national and international fear as threats are issued, executive orders signed, and soundbites made.
In the last few days, there's been a rash of different, confusing executive orders, some of which originally planned to stop all Federal spending, and some of which were targeted at programs that are viewed as being anti-American by the current administration and some of its Project 2025 surrogates.
While many of these orders have now been rescinded, we're going to try and do our best to explain what's going on - what we know, why things are likely going to get worse, and what you can do to try and counteract the scary bits.

We know that Nikki may have misread her odometer in a previous video (for which she's eternally sorry) - but her 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV Premiere has just rolled over 130,000 miles.
Given that she's testing multiple things in it right now - including a new 12-Volt Lithium-Ion Phosphate Battery, ceramic coating, FrogPilot AND Nokian Remedy WRG5s, we figured it was time for a quick update.
Here's how the Bolt is handling, what's gone wrong, and what we'd like to change in the future!

Over the holiday period, in the USA, there were two terrorist attacks. Despite apparent similarities between them they appear to have been unrelated. But among their similarities were the fact that both terrorists chose to use electric pick up trucks as their vector for attack.
We talk about why that might be, and what can be done to reduce the risks of this recurring, and why terrorists might believe that EVs are an effective choice for attacks of this kind.

Over the past year or so, we've chronicled the frustrating demise of the JuiceBox and JuiceNet system from something that really was a shining beacon in the EV world to something that was less useful than a chocolate teapot on a hot pavement in the middle of heat wave. (see below for our previous videos on the subject).
But now, thanks to the folks at https://www.openevse.com - we've now got replacement OpenEVSE control boards designed specifically for our JuiceBoxes.
It allows us to convert our excellent charging station (complete with its heavy-duty case, relay and power cables) and convert them to 100% open source - at least when it comes to their operation and inner smarts!

It's the start of 2025 - and if you're in the U.S. there's a likelihood you're a little concerned about the future of EVs, EV incentives, and EV-friendly policies.
Which is why we think now's the perfect time to join an EV group where you live - or a national EV owner group to help represent your interests on the national (or international) stage.
(And while we're focusing on EVs, it's also great to do the same thing for other greener, cleaner, groups and interests!)
