In this episode, I sit down with Officer George Vivo Jr., a second-generation Bridgeport police officer and the current President of the Bridgeport Police Hispanic Society.George shares his story of growing up in Bridgeport, Connecticut, in a family deeply rooted in public service, surrounded by police officers and military veterans who helped shape his values from an early age. He also reflects on his years living in Texas before ultimately returning home to Bridgeport, where he followed in his father's footsteps by joining the Bridgeport Police Department.Like his father before him, George became a member of the Bridgeport Police Hispanic Society and now serves as president of the organization, which is celebrating 42 years of service. Alvaro Ramirez knows firsthand what it's like to struggle. Born and raised in Bridgeport, Connecticut, he became a father at just 17 years old and faced limited opportunities while trying to build a better future for his family. Everything changed when he discovered a union apprenticeship that opened the door to a career in the skilled trades.

Today, Alvaro is a superintendent, union instructor, homeowner, investor, mentor, and the founder of Build Bridgeport From Within—a nonprofit dedicated to creating opportunity for Bridgeport residents through workforce development, mentorship, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and community revitalization.
