  • Mike: Now hear this. Face Masks are now optional on the Disney Skyliner! They are still required for Disney buses and monorails.
  • Sophie: Disney+ is releasing a series of sing-along movies to the network; they started with the sing-along version of Encanto, and will be including such ones as Frozen, Frozen 2, and both the animated and live-action versions of Beauty and the Beast.
  • Brenda: It has been reported that the Disney Minnie Van service through Lyft is returning during the summer! Dates have not been announced yet, nor has pricing, but if you are looking for a service to get you around the parks or to the airport and back, this may be the service for you!

  • Brenda: Disney announced recently that they are going to be making some changes to the Boardwalk area. The Boardwalk Inn is getting a reimagined lobby, and out on the Boardwalk itself, the Boardwalk Bakery will become a new sandwich shop. Also, The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers, a new table-service restaurant and bakery, is set to open in 2023.
  • Sophie: More Star Wars news: we have been geeking out on Obi-Wan Kenobi trailers and YouTube videos. The series premieres May 25th, and everything about it really makes me ready for it to start!
  • Mike: The Starlight Safari Tour over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is set to return April 22nd! This 1 hour tour through the savanna areas of the Lodge costs $89 and you will be able to see up to 30 animal species with your night-vision goggles.

Saw Rick Springfield and Foreigners Journey recently there and it was awesome!!!

First up is Inside Out: Joyful Sweets, which will feature handmade gelato, ice cream, candy, and novelty treats for purchase. Also on the Wish will be Olaf’s Royal Picnic, where guests can join their favorite Frozen friends for a summertime picnic in Arendelle during a premium entertainment experience specially designed for families with children ages 3 to 12. Guests will interact with Olaf, Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff. These are just two of the new experiences you’ll find on the Disney Wish!
  • Sophie: Spooky news! The Haunted Mansion film that we talked about a while back on the podcast has an official release date! We’re looking forward to seeing it in theaters starting March 10, 2023!

  • Sophie: Lin-Manuel Miranda recently revealed that he approached Disney CEO Bob Chapek about adding an Encanto-themed ride to the Disney theme parks! He envisions a ride through attraction similar to the Little Mermaid attraction. I know that I’d be first in line for that if it comes about!
  • Brenda: Guardians of the Galaxy update! In a recent tweet by Disney’s Chief Corporate Affairs officer Geoff Morrell, the executive brought attention to the attraction and pointed to a possible opening date of the attraction taking place over Memorial Day weekend!
  • Mike: Over on the west coast, the transformation of Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland Park will begin starting March 9th. The biggest part of the transformation is that Toontown will be the home of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway when it reopens in early 2023.

  • Brenda: We have another Disney Wish update! On February 11th, the Disney Wish touched water for the first time during her “float out”, which is a major construction milestone! 
  • Mike: COVID Face Covering Update: Beginning last Thursday, February 17, the following health and safety updates are in place at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. Face coverings are optional for fully vaccinated Guests in both outdoor and indoor locations. Guests who are not fully vaccinated are expected to continue wearing face coverings in all indoor locations, including indoor attractions and theaters. Face coverings are still required by all Guests (ages 2 and up) on enclosed Disney transportation, including Disney buses, monorails, and Disney Skyliner. This comes on the heels of the news that Universal Orlando Resort recently relaxed their Face Covering rules on February 12th in much the same way as Disney has now done.

  • Sophie: Just in, the Walt Disney Company earned 23 Academy Award Nominations for the 94th Oscars, which will be presented on March 27th.
  • Brenda: Unfortunately, Disney Cruise Line announced recently that the debut of the new ship, the Disney Wish, has had to be pushed out to later in the summer. Originally slated to make its first sailing on June 9, that has been pushed to July 14th. For those affected by the delay, Disney is reaching out to them to rebook or refund their deposits. Additionally, those impacted are being offered a 50% discount on a future cruise departing by December 31, 2023.

Hey everyone, I’m Mike, she’s Sophie, that’s Brenda, and and he’s Grogu, and we’re On the Road with Mickey! This is episode 107 for January 31, 2022, and our feature topic is Disney Movies: Live-Action vs. Animated! We’re taking a look at the Disney movies that have both an animated version as well as live-action remake version, and picking our favorites and why. Here’s the rundown of what we talked about:

• Cheddar from the Big Cheese
  • Sophie: Over at Disneyland, the late Dave Smith, Disney Legend, and the founder of the Walt Disney Archives, was honored with a window at Disneyland. We grabbed a picture of the window to share with you.
  • Brenda: Disney announced that they are going to have a Pixar Day at Sea on select sailings of the Disney Fantasy in 2023! Right now it is set for January – March, 2023, but who knows, if it goes well, perhaps they will extend that?
  • Mike: Interesting timing on this bit of cheddar, seeing as what our feature topic is today. Turns out that Disney is working on a live action version of The Aristocats. What are your thoughts on this?

This is episode 106 for January 24, 2022, and our feature topic is Ranking the Nighttime Entertainment! We’re going to rank our favorites between Wishes vs. Happily Ever After vs. Disney Enchantment at Magic Kingdom, and Illuminations: Reflections of Earth, Epcot Forever, and Harmonious at Epcot. Here’s the rundown of what we talked about:

• Cheddar from the Big Cheese
  • Mike: Starting on February 4th, guests can now relax once again on a horse drawn carriage ride at Port Orleans Riverside! You can now take a carriage ride over at Fort Wilderness. Cost for Riverside is $55 plus tax and will seat up to 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 small children.
  • Sophie: Some movie news to report: 1) There is a sequel in development for Disney’s Jungle Cruise movie! 2) Disney’s Encanto is named the Best Motion Picture – Animated at the Golden Globes! 3) Lastly, there is a remake of the 2003 Haunted Mansion movie in the works, and they are looking for extras for the New Orleans shoot! This is a remake of the movie that starred Eddie Murphy.
  • Brenda: We have some new sweets and treats for the 50th Anniversary. Among them are the Donald Duck Dome Cake at Gaston’s Tavern, the Anniversary Cinnamon Roll at the Main Street Bakery, and the Cheers to 50 Years ice cream dessert at the Plaza Restaurant.
