What do you do when you keep showing up, putting in the effort, and trying to stay disciplined — but the results just aren't there yet?
In this episode of Daily Disciplines, I talk about why slow progress doesn't mean failure and why consistency often starts working long before we realize it.
I share some of my own experiences, including making videos I wasn't happy with until one day I realized that all that practice had quietly made me better. We also look at learning through mistakes, the power of small steps, and why sometimes you don't need to change your destination — you simply need to take a different road.
Most importantly, don't measure your journey against someone else's success. Look back at where you started and recognize how far you have already come.
Discipline keeps you going. Consistency gets you there.

What might become possible if you no longer had to appear strong and certain every moment?
In Part 9 of Embrace Your Worth, we explore vulnerability as the courage to be honest when the outcome is uncertain. You will learn how appropriate vulnerability strengthens trust, why asking for help is not failure, and how honesty supports apologies, creativity, learning, and meaningful relationships.
The episode also explains why vulnerability requires boundaries and should be shared gradually with trustworthy people.
It concludes with a reflection exercise and a challenge to take one small step toward honest connection.
Embrace Your Worth is a special 12-part series about developing stronger, healthier, and more resilient self-esteem.

🏜️ Hiking Red Rock Canyon: Beyond the Lights of Las Vegas
Just outside the bright lights of Las Vegas is a completely different world — the rugged desert landscape of Red Rock Canyon.
In this episode of Travel Tricks and Tips, I share my experience hiking through Red Rock Canyon, surrounded by dramatic red rock formations, wide-open desert and the kind of silence you don't expect to find so close to Las Vegas.
But this landscape also deserves respect.
One thing that stayed with me was the seriousness of the posted warnings about dehydration and extreme heat. The signs don't simply tell hikers to carry water — they warn that dehydration and heat-related illness can become life-threatening.
That is something every hiker should remember. There may be little shade and no reliable water source once you're on the trail. Carry more water than you think you'll need, protect yourself from the sun, know your limits, and remember that reaching your destination is only half the hike — you still have to make it back.
Red Rock Canyon reminded me that some of the most beautiful places we visit can also be unforgiving if we're not prepared.
Come along with me as I share what I saw, what I learned, and why Red Rock Canyon is worth experiencing when you're visiting Las Vegas.

Bicycling has been part of my life for a long time, but for me it has never been simply about exercise. A bicycle gives me a different way to experience the world. You travel slowly enough to notice the people, landscapes, sounds, small towns, and details that are easy to miss when you are traveling by car.
In this episode of Travel Tricks and Tips, I share my personal experiences with cycling and bicycle touring—from the simple bicycles I remember from years ago to the bikes and equipment we use today. I talk about traveling long distances, carrying what you need with you, dealing with changing roads and conditions, and the unexpected experiences that become part of the journey.
Bicycle travel teaches you patience, independence, preparation, and appreciation for the simple things. Sometimes the hardest climbs and most difficult days become the memories you remember most.
Whether you already ride, are thinking about bicycle touring, or simply enjoy hearing stories about seeing the world differently, I hope this episode encourages you to get outside, explore, and discover what may be waiting just beyond your usual route.

Why I Ride: Cycling, Adventure, Freedom and What the Road Has Taught Me
Everywhere I travel, I see more people carrying selfie sticks, tripods, cameras, and phones. Sometimes I ask if they are content creators, and often the answer is, “I’m just starting,” or “I’m going to start with this trip.” That growing interest in documenting our experiences inspired this episode.
In this episode, I share how I use my GoPro while traveling, hiking, biking, and exploring new places. I talk about shooting horizontally for longer YouTube videos and simply turning the GoPro vertically when I want footage for TikTok, Reels, or YouTube Shorts.
But the biggest message isn't really about the GoPro. You don't need to spend a lot of money on equipment to become a content creator. Use what you already have and start creating. Consistency will take you much further than expensive equipment sitting in a bag.
Recording my travels has also changed the way I experience them. I pay closer attention to the sounds, landscapes, people, small details, and moments around me. Because I'm actively observing what I might want to share later, many of those details remain surprisingly clear in my memory.
Whether you're thinking about starting a travel channel, podcast, TikTok, YouTube channel, or simply documenting your adventures for yourself, I hope this episode encourages you to start with what you have and learn as you go.

Arches National Park is one of those places that stays in your memory long after you leave. In this episode of Travel Tricks and Tips, I take you through my experience exploring this remarkable part of Utah—from the remote highways leading toward Moab to the incredible sandstone formations, natural arches, scenic drives and dusty hiking trails inside the park.
We'll talk about Delicate Arch, Landscape Arch, Devils Garden, The Windows, Double Arch and some of the easier ways to experience Arches without committing to a long hike. One of the great things about this national park is that you can drive between many of the major areas, stop for photographs, take a short walk, or choose a longer and more challenging hike.
I also share some practical lessons from visiting: arriving prepared for remote stretches of highway, keeping fuel in the tank, carrying plenty of water, expecting your hiking shoes to get dusty, and respecting the fragile desert environment.
And then there are the rocks themselves—massive formations balanced at angles that almost don't seem possible and arches so thin that you find yourself wondering how they're still standing.
Utah remains one of the places I think about again and again because of its national parks, extraordinary landmarks and sheer wilderness. If I get the opportunity, I'll probably return to Utah a hundred more times.

Growing up in Sri Lanka, elephants were more than animals I saw from a distance. In this episode of Travel Tricks and Tips, I share personal memories of interacting with elephants as a child, including an unforgettable experience with an elephant hired for a project at my grandfather's home.
Years later, my perspective changed. I returned to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, where I was able to see, touch and feed elephants at remarkably close range. It was an incredible experience—but seeing the crowds also made me question captivity and wonder what these intelligent animals experience when we enter their world.
Then there was my 834-kilometer bicycle tour across Sri Lanka. My friend Jiffry and I rode through wild-elephant country, slept in an open classroom at a school where elephants occasionally wandered onto the grounds, and listened to the headmaster tell us stories about living alongside these powerful animals.
This episode is about more than elephants. It's about culture, conservation, childhood memories, adventure, and how travel can change the way we see something we thought we already understood.

What is it like to drive through seven European countries on one road trip? I started with two days in Paris to recover from jet lag, then drove through Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, and Monaco before returning through southern France.
In this episode of Travel Tricks and Tips, I share the memorable stops—from Amsterdam and the Swiss Alps to the Mediterranean coast—along with what I learned about fuel sold by the liter, toll roads, parking, speed limits, and planning a drive across borders. If you’ve wondered how a European road trip compares with one in America, come along for the journey.
