In this episode I get to talk with another third culture kid who is currently living in Spain. I loved talking with Delia about the many cultures she has been intimately involved with over the years, and I enjoyed listening to some of her favourite travel memories. We also talk about why getting lost is so important and how travel enriches your life in so many ways. In this episode I get to talk with someone who has grown to love Iceland over the past few years. Our guest this week is Jewells, a woman who is originally from New York but is now living in Iceland and runs a podcast and YouTube channel called All Things Iceland. I was excited to talk with her about Iceland from an expat’s point of view and it was fun diving in to hear about her cultural experiences in the country. We talk about everything from taxes and politics to language difficulties and Icelandic habits which Jewells has picked up.

In this episode I get to talk with a journalist/photographer from Western Australia. Rachel recently worked with Global Guardians as a journalist to help write a story about the important work they’re doing; stopping the spread of animal poaching in South Africa. I looked up some statistics and found out that on average, animal poachers kill 2.4 rhinos per day. But even more shocking is the fact that they are killing, on average, 3 elephants per hour. To put that into perspective, in the time it takes to listen to this episode, animal poachers will have killed three more elephants. The rangers who are fighting against this horrific tragedy go through rigorous training and are incredibly skilled at what they do. Rachel was able to work right along side them and shares what it’s like to train with these rangers before combatting poaching in the national parks. We also chat about her photography, what sparked that passion, and why she fell in love with the black and white portraits she captures. From an early age, she realized the value of learning more about how other people view and experience the world. In this episode I get to talk with a German student who spent some time studying in Taiwan and is now studying in Iceland. I was excited to have Johannes on the podcast because his story is so unique. He’s never owned a car or held a driver’s license and he prefers to take a ferry rather than fly so he can truly experience every part of our amazing planet. During our conversation he shares a lot of stories about his travel experiences, as well as some interesting Taiwanese history which I hadn’t heard before.

We talk about her medical training during which she went to Kenya to broaden her cultural views on global healthcare and learn how to care for people in different environments. She shares why the Westfjords of Iceland are so special to her and some of the things she used to do as a child while visiting there. She also talks about some of her experiences in Poland, Australia, Japan, and India.
