Being there for 41/2 years gave Pier ample opportunity to explore this amazing country, including taking a cablecar to the Bolivar Peak at 4978 metres high, however making stops along the way to adjust to the air density.
We talk about Colonia Tovar a place that was created by importing almost 400 settlers from Germany and equipment to start a new colony in the German lifestyle which was kept it’s independence until the 1960’s and Pier taking control of the year 2000 project for Shell Venezuela and then due to a general strike Shell employees were evacuated but Pier stayed to defend the castle until his next posting to London
