On May 15 2024 the Grand Traverse County Board of commissioners agreed to purchase GoRec park for $3 million. This was ARPA funding. In that meeting it was never mentioned that another $500,000 would be needed. Listen in.

The infrastructure needs at the county jail continue to be a problem. Mental health issues with those incarcerated, and a high recidivism rate, all point to a need for the county commissioners to focus efforts on the current infrastructure needs of the Grand Traverse county jail. Sheriff Michael Shea and his staff are doing an excellent job under the current conditions. It's time for the county commissioners to focus their attention on the infrastructure deeds at the county jail.
