Simple Living and High Thinking shows how to simplify our lives, both inwardly and outwardly. This will free up energy that can be devoted toward our spiritual growth.
Kriyananda emphasizes finding a balance in the way we live.
It can be said that simple living and high thinking means simple living and “God” thinking. Put God first, and do everything for Him.

Service is Joy – when you work selflessly it is joy
We are serving when we look beyond our own personal reality and offer ourselves, and all that we do, into the greater, universal flow.
We need to tune into God’s power and inspiration, and consciously channel it into all we do. We can do nothing, yet God can do anything through us.

Self-Acceptance – identify and accept the highest within you.
Usually, when we think of self-acceptance, we think of accepting our faults. In this talk, Kriyananda tells us that if we are to really grow, we must identify with the highest within us rather than the lowest.
The “self” Kriyananda is referring to is our Higher Self. He explains that by identifying with our perfection, our true Self will shine through.

Love a higher truth than yourself. Love God.
Yogananda taught the the truth is infinite, it has no boundries, such as race or religion.
Yogananda was an expression of infinite consciousness.
Learn to hold your peace wherever you are, in the city or the country.
Ananda music written by Kriyananda uplifts, it is not emotional.
Ask at every turn, 'God, what do You want?' You will find that He gives you guidance.
Communities are a solution. People can learn to live together and seek inspiration and support for each other.
The purpose of human life is to get more in tune with higher consciousness.
You can better understand people when you understand them from your heart.
There is a difference between spirituality and religion. It's not so much about your beliefs, but how you live.
Be true to your own principles, don't worry about what other people say, or the noise around you. Be true to your own higher truth. If thousands of people would do that, they could change the world.

Say Yes to Life – a way of being positive, energetic and enthusiastic.
Kriyananda shares what it means to truly embrace life.
He discusses two spiritual approaches – one of denying the world in the search for God and the other of embracing the world and seeing God in everything.
Paramhansa Yognanada’s life powerfully demonstrates the quality of seeing God in everything and “saying ‘yes’ to life.

Rhythm of Superconsciousness – superconscious thinking is a process of unfoldment
Kriyananda offers practical advice on how to live on the superconsciousness level.
We start the process toward higher consciousness from where we are and move to higher realities.
No one can take you there by mere study of words and concepts. You must apply what you learn to your daily life and understand it from inside yourself.
Experience is the basis of true understanding.
When we meditate on higher realities and mix with people who are on the spiritual path, we build magnetism that will help draw us ever closer to superconsciousness and union with God.

Renunciation of the Ego- learn to expand the ego from littleness to infinity.
Live for God, hold Him in your thoughts all the time.
Try to see in all people the One infinite beloved.
This song by Kriyananda expresses renunciation:
Make Us Thy Channels
Lord most high our heav’nly father,
All our lives we dedicate to Thee:
All our labors, all our joys and woes,
All our pleasure, all our melody.
Make us each a channel of Thy peace:
When in darkness, guide us from above;
Where there’s sorrow may we sow Thy joy;
Where there’s hatred may we share Thy love.

Renunciation in Modern Times is about loving God above all things and embracing bliss.
Kriyananda says that renunciation today is different than in the dark ages, when renunciates would lock themselves up in cells, renouncing the world and everything in it. For us now, renunciation is a state of being where we love God above all else, and in experience Him in everything.
He reminds us that although we do live in the world, we must first live in our hearts for God. If we serve God in our relationships and all of our activities, we can live with an inwardness that includes outer realities. We can affirm the world from a higher level, and love all for God’s sake.
