When the Israelites sink into disobedience again, they are oppressed by the Midianites. So, God raises up the unlikely hero, Gideon.

The Age of the Judges begins. God raises up judges to rescue the Israelites when their waywardness reaps dire consequences. Men and women also, like Deborah, are chosen to lead.

Joshua died before all the land God deeded to the Israelites was taken, so the tribes regroup to go in and take their places. Judah's tribe goes first, then Joseph's, then Benjamin's and others. Where they couldn't dislodge the inhabitants, they just live with them.

Today, Joshua calls the tribes together to remind them of their history and to exhort them to obey the Lord, particularly warning them about idolatry, before he dies. Eleazer dies, and they also bury the bones of Joseph in the Promised Land.

Today, we'll see those Cities of Refuge finally get set up.The Levites are given their city assignments. A misunderstanding arises between Israelites on different sides of the Jordan.

Today, we'll watch as the Daughters of Zelophehad prepare the way for the Messiah. The rest of the tribes get their allocation and Jerusalem goes to Benjamin, but they can't remove the Jebusites.

Today, we see Hebron go to Caleb, a reward for his faithfulness. Judah, and then Joseph get their allotments. The Israelites rest from war, but they are unable to take Jerusalem.

By God's hand, Joshua subdues the land from Kadesh Barnea to Gaza and from Goshen to Gibeon. This brings out other Canaanite kings from all directions and Joshua defeats them too. God reminds them to allocate even land not yet conquered to the Israelites.
