Trek Untold: The Star Trek Podcast That Goes Beyond The Stars!

Gates McFadden stopped by once again to chat with Trek Untold to discuss the third season of her podcast, "Gates McFadden Investigates: Who Do You Think You Are?" and more.

We chatted about how she has grown as a podcaster, how she strives to have her guests truly open up to her, a moment from her show that greatly affected her with Nana Visitor, and how vulnerability and empathy are more than just keys to having a good interview podcast.

Gates also dove into some "Star Trek: The Next Generation" questions, including her one and only directing effort in season 7's "Genesis," Dr. Beverly Crusher's famous and meme-worthy line from "Remember Me," and her thoughts on the new Nacelle Company Star Trek action figures.

Sawandi Wilson was the final new character introduced in "Star Trek: Discovery," arriving in the last act of the series finale "Life, Itself." Playing Michael Burnham's son, Sawandi was the first to don a completely new Starfleet uniform, and piloted his Admiral mom to the NCC-1031 for her final mission.

We chat with Sawandi about his time on the set of Disco, working with Soneqhua Martin-Green and David Ajala, and what he knew about this very secretive conclusion to the Herald of New Star Trek shows. Plus, Sawandi tells us about some of his other work on film and screen, like "Casa de Flores" and "Harlem," his roots in breaking (as in break dancing) and the ESPN documentary that showcased his skills, and what the future holds for him.

Trek Untold sat down with Brian Volk-Weiss during NYCC 2024 to discuss the newly announced Star Trek figures from his company, Nacelle Toys. Brian, a lifelong Trek fan and collector, is choosing an unusual route to make his highly articulated collectibles, with the intent to please the hardcore fans more than putting these out in big box stores where they would fester and rot like previous attempts by other companies.

Brian breaks down who will be part of his first wave and details what accessories they include (revealing some secrets he hasn't discussed elsewhere), his strategy and plans for longevity, the story behind how he got the license, and what he will do differently from others, and much more in this deep dive into a toy line that has the potential to make Trek fans extremely happy. Stay up to date with Nacelle Toys on their website - https://nacellestore.com/

Mike McMahan, creator of "Star Trek: Lower Decks," was at NY Comic Con 2024 to preview the upcoming final season of the series - and Trek Untold was there too! Join us in the first of several NYCC 2024 episodes as we chat with McMahan as part of a roundtable discussion with other members of the press to discuss the latest season, look back at previous ones, and talk about the future of the animated Star Trek universe.

As an added bonus, we are including footage from the "Star Trek Universe" panel at the con, featuring surprise appearances by Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noel Wells, and Eugene Cordero. This was the first time this foursome has been together in years, and when these Lower Decks are in the same room with one another, chaos ensues!

Fan films are an integral part of Star Trek history, with lovers of the franchise creating homemade versions of the show as far back as when the original series first hit the airwaves. Nearly six decades later, the tradition continues, but now with higher budgets and more impressive effects.

“Farragut Forward” is the latest entry in the ongoing saga of the Farragut crew, a fan-made homage to Trek with nearly two decades of stories produced on film. Their newest feature debuted on October 1, 2024, combining practical effects with modern CGI and classic Trek storytelling to make a compelling movie.

Trek Untold chatted with producer and star John Broughton, director Johnny Karzai, and performers (and “Farpoint Toys” store and museum owners) Penelope and Justin about the making of “Farragut Forward” and why this fan film is worth checking out.

Bonita Friedericy is always cool, calm, and collective... as in the Borg collective!

Trek fans know her as the scientist named Rooney from the "Enterprise" episode titled "Regeneration," which chronologically introduced the Borg to Star Trek. You might not know the story of how she got that role, as well as the secrets behind filming and the origins of her costume.

Friedericy is also the wife of John Billingsley, AKA Dr. Phlox. She explains whether or not this relationship had anything to do with getting the part (Spoilers: it didn't!), and stories from her hubby visiting her on set.

Plus, being an understudy for Jennifer Tilly, playing General Diane Beckman on the cult classic TV show "Chuck" with Zachary Levi, her unusual role as Terry Loach on "Preacher," and stories about John Cho, Stephen Tobolowsky, Ted Danson, and more!
