In verse 10 of our text, Paul asks, “Am I trying to please man? And he answers saying, “If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.” In this message we look at 1) how Paul came to ask this question 2) the descriptive nature of Paul’s calling in contrast to how we are called 3) the inevitable truth that taking the road of being a “people pleaser” disqualifies us as a servant of Christ.

In Psalm 139, the halls of systematic theology meet the prayer closet. When we have studied theology aright we should be moved to praise the Lord who has so wonderfully revealed Himself. In Part one of this message on Psalm 139, Pastor Rick Aderson shows us how God’s amazing attributes, namely, His is exhaustive knowledge of each of us, the fact He is present everywhere, and His personally creating each of us from the womb really comfort, strengthen, and minister to us as we go through the difficulties of life.

Life in a fallen world is not easy and sometimes, in the life of the believer, he or she may find themselves in circumstance that bring them down so low they cannot even pray. A well known Old Testament scholar once commented that Psalm 6 “gives words to those who scarcely have the heart to pray and brings them within the sight of victory. ”In this message, Pastor Rick Anderson explains this psalm with an eye to helping us through these difficult times and/ or training us to face them some day.

I am afraid that there are many in the church today that will never hear a sermon on Psalm 5 and other texts like it. And the reason is undoubtedly the hard sayings found in these texts. But we are called to preach the whole counsel of God and when we fail to do this there are inevitably large gaps in our spiritual formation. In this message, Pastor Rick Anderson shows how we can derive strength from these hard sayings.
