We talk with Tria Prima author Ike Baker, host of Arcanvm about his new book A Formless Fire- Rediscovering the Magical Traditions of the West.
A Formless fire is a full-scale examination of the history, theory, and practice of the Western Esoteric Traditions. From astrology and alchemy, to divination and ceremonial magic, A Formless Fire takes the reader on a tour of little-known yet significant histories and arcane arts both ancient and modern, with an initiate in the Western traditions as their guide. Blending scholarship with practical insight, Baker weaves history, theory, and practice into a contextual tapestry providing vivid and vibrant form to the often obscure subjects of esotericism and occultism.
With original cover art by artist Travis Lawrence, a Forewords by renowned Masonic author, presenter, and astrologer Jaime Paul Lamb, and eight appendixes serving as practical guidelines to ceremonial operations, alchemical tinctures, and more, A Formless Fire is a go-to guide for the seasoned occultist, serious enthusiast, and newly interested alike.

The Grand Communication provides a fresh look at Freemasonry’s ritual and symbols by journeying back into history to trace the wars, global exploration, scientific discoveries, monarchs and ideas that led to Freemasonry as we know it. He touches on everything from Noah and the Book of Genisis to Alchemy, Hermeticism, beer brewing, early stone mason guilds and the Philosophers Stone. Nate delivers all of this in a conversational and accessible style.
Schick is a professor at Arizona State University in the School of History, Philosophy and Religious Studies. He’s an master mason and active member of Glendale Lodge #23. He is a master ritualist and master lecturer under the Grand Lodge of Arizona.
This episode is a special treat. It’s the Triarcanuminds episode where Jake and Jaime of Tria Prima are joined by Ike Baker of the ARCANVM Podcast and Skyler Mathis of the Philosophical Minds Podcast to talk about Demiurges and Daemons.
In philosophical and religious contexts, a demiurge usually talks about a divine being or craftsman responsible for making the physical world. The concept of a demiurge is mentioned in Neoplatonism, Gnosticism, and in Plato’s writings.
Daemons, sometimes spelled daimon, refers to a guiding inner spirit or divine sign that Socrates believed guided him through his life. Not to be confused with the modern concept of a demons what are usually thought to be evil supernatural beings. Socrates daemons served as a source of guidance and moral insight.

We recently chatted with Troy of The Scholomance Project about this year’s Esotericism in Freemasonry Conference.
Our own Jaime Paul Lamb will be a featured performer on Friday, September 29 where he will be improvising on the harmonium for each of the planetary spheres. Jaime plays modal scales associated with each planet while burning fumigation appropriate for each planet and projecting a large photograph of the planet being highlighted. It’s a projecting experience. Afterwards there will be a conversation with Jaime about the performance and it’s significance.
Past audiences have enjoyed the experience leading to a great back-and-forth conversation afterwards.
Also speaking at the conference will be P.D. Newman, author of Angels in Vermillion (Tria Prima Press).
This conference is a great opportunity to meet other esoteric minded Freemasons and dive deeper into The Craft.
