The best college basketball coach in North Carolina you HAVEN’T heard of is Matt Ridge. Ridge has built the men’s basketball program at Davidson-Davie Community College from scratch, and it’s been a winning recipe from the very beginning. The Storm have won close to 83-percent of their games under the direction of Ridge, including winning 12 conference titles, 5 Region X Tournament Championships, and securing 5 National Tournament appearances. Fast forward 14 years, and Ridge has DDCC primed to make another deep postseason run, and just maybe, win it all. Because as you’ll hear from Ridge, his tireless effort, demanding principles, and unrelenting pursuit of a national title is what’s already turned DDCC into a JUCO juggernaut. Being the last team standing to cut down the nets is the one experience that eludes his program. However, those occasions don't stand in comparison to the relationships he's generated throughout his time in broadcasting (more than 4 decades!). Stan Cotten is a 5x NSMA North Carolina Sportscaster of the Year, most recently having earned the honor in 2020. Cotten received that specific award in mid-December at the 61st National Sports Media Association Awards Banquet in Winston-Salem.
