TVC 614.1: Actor and author James Rosin joins Ed as TV Confidential pays tribute to George Maharis, the Brandoesque actor known around the world as Buz Murdock on Route 66 (CBS, 1960-1964). George Maharis passed away this past Wednesday, May 24 at age ninety-four. Jim interviewed Maharis for his book Route 66: The Television Series; he not only remained friends with the actor for the rest of his life, but spoke to Maharis just a few weeks before his death. Among other topics this segment, Jim clarifies some of the misinformation and innuendo surrounding Maharis' departure from Route 66 in the middle of the third season. (Maharis himself addressed this subject when he appeared on TV Confidential in March 2012; we replay that interview in our second hour of this week's program.)
