June 5th 2016 - The Holy Spirit: The Tension in Following - Pastor Josh Guajardo - Acts 4:23-31 - When you examine the prayers of Peter and John after they were threatened by the Sanhedrin to cease speaking the name of Jesus Christ, you will find that it is full of God's sovereignty and his plan. The prayer was for boldness, not protection. The pray was for God's will to be done, not for some strategy to overcome threats. They put themselves in the hands of God.

Their hearts were devoted to one another and they held material possessions in common. We can draw parallels between this and a Mother's heart, in celebration of Mothers' Day as well.

May 1st 2016 - Getting Ready for the Spirit - Pastor Josh Guajardo - Acts 1:21-26 - The disciples were intuitively doing what Jesus had taught them to do: Searching the scriptures and following what Jesus taught them. This is what led them to replace Judas among the twelve. This, of course, is BEFORE the coming of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2. If we delve into scripture and obey what Jesus taught us to do, how much more so can the Holy Spirit lead us now?

Despite a literal civil war, David still had tremendous love for Absolom. This type of love borders on the extreme: extremely good AND extremely dangerous. Good because it is illustrative of the love that God has for us. Dangerous because we are human, and it can get in the way of the good of our families and the good of our church. In spite of our skewed perspectives, we must keep God's will and God's wisdom firmly in front of us at all times.
