Ashes are a very real reminder of death. From dust you are. To dust you shall return. But the cross and Jesus reminds us that death isn't the end! From dust you are. To dust you shall return. BUT DUST YOU SHALL NOT REMAIN!
The scars of Jesus tell a story. A story of love and forgiveness. This week is the beginning of the Forgiving Challenge where we will be looking at SCARS.
During the season of Lent, we will see how SCARS show us the forgiveness that God has given to you and me.
"I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Choose life."
After being called into the family of God, He then calls us to live differently and not go back to the ways of death and evil. Choose life.
Jesus calls us the Salt of the Earth. What does that mean? What does it look like to be salty Christians?
What is the world's definition of feeling "Blessed"? What is Jesus' definition of being "Blessed"? They are almost complete opposites.
Are you following the world or are you following Jesus?
John pointed Andrew to Jesus. Jesus said to Andrew "Come and See." Then, Andrew pointed Peter to Jesus. We are called to point people to Jesus and then let Jesus do what Jesus does.
Because of Jesus, we can walk in Newness of Life, guided by the Light of the World who shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.
New Year's Resolutions. Words of the Year. Why? So that someone will love you more? So that you will love yourself more? So that God will love you more? What if, instead, you answered that 'Why?' with a 'Because'? Because Jesus has set you free, you are free to make that resolution or have that word of the year?
We all have good intentions. But are they Godly intentions. Joseph had good intentions to divorce Mary quietly. God intervened. Saul had good intentions to squelch those following Jesus. God intervened. Do you have good intentions that aren't Godly? Who might be able to walk alongside you and intervene on God's behalf?
