How do we choose the people we surround ourselves with? How do we choose to love the people that we love? Why do we keep carrying on in the midst of everything?

God has given us all unique gifts for us to use to spread his love and grow his kingdom. When we work together, we tend to enjoy it more than we do when we work alone. Despite what gifts other people are given, how do we focus on our own gifts and go about using them for the greater good? How can we contribute to where our work means something?

In this sermon series, "Equipped", we are reflecting on the spiritual gifts God has given us, and how we may use the gifts of our faith when we go out into the world. This week, Pastor Brian reminds us that even if we have been baptized and confirmed as members of the church, our spiritual work mustn't end there.

When Paul prefers to not speak in tongues despite his spiritual gift for it, what does that say about how he uses his gift for the glory of God? He saw that his speech in tongues was not growing the kingdom of God and choose to prophesy instead. Envisioning lets us see the consequences of evil and reveals the problems in our world. This might be hard to appreciate as the problem could be ourselves. How do we look to people like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and use his example to make our world a better place?
