  • Why Kiwi supermodel Rachel Hunter wants to move to India, plus her best travel beauty tips
Each episode, Trip Notes hosts Stephanie Holmes and Tim Roxborogh are joined by a special guest to talk all about travel. On this episode, brought to you by House of Travel, we chat with Kiwi supermodel, TV presenter and author, Rachel Hunter.

"Our Rach" is probably New Zealand's most famous export, and she's been travelling the world since she left for New York to start her modelling career, aged just 16. She talks about her early days as a model in NYC, and what it was like to be so far from home.

She spent months travelling the world for her TV series Tour of Beauty, visiting 13 countries for season one. Her new book chronicles the journey, and she tells us what she learnt about different cultures and beauty standards around the world.

Rachel also reveals her tips for travelling in India, a place she spends three months of every year. Is it a destination to be scared of?

  • Tom Sainsbury, the pressure to pack light, and why we love LA
Each episode, Trip Notes hosts Stephanie Holmes and Tim Roxborogh are joined by a special guest to talk all about travel. On this episode, brought to you by House of Travel, we chat with comedian/actor/playwright and Auckland mayoral hopeful Tom Sainsbury.

Tom, who stars in the new season of Wellington Paranormal on TVNZ 2, loves travel but - like his comedy - his favourite destinations are a little off beat. We talk Sweden, Jersey and the Chatham Islands... then bring it back to more familiar territory with our Destination of the Week, LA.

Plus, we talk about packing and the pressure to travel light. Is it possible to only travel with hand luggage? What are the essentials you should always take with you? And who says you can't take a giant suitcase on holiday, anyway?

  • Cruise special: Big ships, small ships, luxury sailings and the world's best ports of call
Each episode, Trip Notes hosts Stephanie Holmes and Tim Roxborogh are joined by a special guest to talk all about travel. On this episode, brought to you by House of Travel, we chat with NZ hospitality legend Judith Tabron.

After close to 20 years at the helm of super-successful Auckland Viaduct institution Soul Bar, Judith sold up last year to take some time out, travel the world and think about what she wanted to do next. This month, she's hitting our screens twice a week as co-host of TVNZ's My Restaurant Rules, a reality TV series searching for New Zealand's best out-of-the way restaurant.

For this cruise-themed episode of Trip Notes, Judith was the perfect guest - she's been on eight cruise holidays in destinations ranging from the Caribbean and Canada; Greece and Nice; and many more.

We pick her brains about the best luxury cruise ships, things to expect from your first cruise holiday, what not to do on a cruise, and the best ports of call around the world.

  • Bree Tomasel, Celebrity Treasure Island, solo travel, and why we love Bali
Each fortnight, Trip Notes hosts Stephanie Holmes and Tim Roxborogh are joined by a special guest to talk all about travel. On this episode, brought to you by House of Travel, we chat with Bree Tomasel.

If you're one of her ZM Drive listeners or 100,000-plus Instagram followers (hi, Channing Tatum, we're talking to you), you'll already know Bree and her unmistakable Aussie accent. But in the last couple of months, Bree has been wrangling celebrities like Shane Cameron, Eric Murray, Jodie Rimmer and Shannon Ryan in Fiji, as host of Celebrity Treasure Island.

Bree tells us what the filming experience was like, and shares some inside goss about the celebs on the show.

We also chat about her favourite destinations, including Bali, Vietnam and the Philippines, where Bree travelled solo for the first time.

  • Passenger shaming, to recline or not to recline, and the place worth going back to again and again...
Each fortnight, Trip Notes hosts Stephanie Holmes and Tim Roxborogh are joined by a special guest to talk all about travel. On this episode, we chat with Lorna Subritzky.

Best known as Coast's days host, her alter-ego is Lorna the Explorer - she loves to travel and is often posting glamorous, envy-inducing tropical holiday pics on her Instagram. But Lorna reveals she was quite a late bloomer when it comes to travel ... now she's certainly making up for lost time.

Lorna tells us about the travel experience that made her cry, as well as her favourite destination - a place she loves so much, she's been back 14 times.

Plus, we talk about the worst passenger behaviour we've ever seen on a plane. Are you guilty of any of these air travel faux pas?

Once you've listened, please leave us a review and tell us some of your favourite destinations - we'd love to know where you're travelling, and where you're dreaming of.

  • Michael Galvin, why Fiji is off limits, and facing up to failure in London
Each fortnight, Trip Notes hosts Stephanie Holmes and Tim Roxborogh are joined by a special guest to talk all about travel. On this episode, we chat with Michael Galvin.

He's known and loved in New Zealand for playing Dr Chris Warner in the country's longest-running soap opera Shortland Street, a role he's had since the show started in 1994... apart from a four year break early on.

He left the show in 1996 and moved to London, but his dreams of finding fame and fortune there didn't quite work out. In a refreshingly candid conversation, Michael tells us how it felt to fail and how he's found peace with the decisions he made.

We also talk about Fiji - one of Stephanie and Tim's favourite destinations - but Michael reveals what it's like to visit there when you're the star of the nation's best-loved TV show. Clue: it's crazy.

Once you've listened, please leave us a review and tell us some of your favourite destinations - we'd love to know where you're travelling, and where you're dreaming of.

  • Hayley Holt, Celebrity Treasure Island, solo travel, and the benefits of Bumble
Each fortnight, Trip Notes hosts Stephanie Holmes and Tim Roxborogh are joined by a special guest to talk all about travel. On this episode, we chat with Hayley Holt.

Professional snowboarder and ballroom dancer, Green MP, TVNZ Breakfast host - Hayley has done it all... including once winning Celebrity Treasure Island. She tells us what it was like to compete on the show, which is returning to TV this month, and whether she'd like to do it all again.

Hayley also talks about her memories of travel as a snowboarder, as well as her most recent holiday to a stunning Hawaiian island away from the tourist hordes.

And, as experienced solo travellers, Hayley and Stephanie give their best tips for travelling the world as a woman alone. Hayley's advice might surprise you...

Once you've listened, please leave us a review and tell us some of your favourite destinations - we'd love to know where you're travelling, and where you're dreaming of.

  • Stacey Morrison, Magic Mike strip shows, Russian billionaires, and the power of language
Each fortnight, Trip Notes hosts Stephanie Holmes and Tim Roxborogh are joined by a special guest to talk all about travel. On this episode, we talk to Stacey Morrison.

Stacey is quite possibly the busiest woman in New Zealand. Not only does she co-host The Hits Drive Show with Mike Puru, she’s also an ambassador for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation, a best-selling author, a teacher at Massey University, and mum to three children.

And somehow, among all that, she still manages to fit in a healthy love of travel.

From her first overseas trip to Japan as a high school exchange student, to family holidays in Hawaii, to eye-opening trips to Russia, Stacey has loved — and learnt a lot — from seeing the world.

She talks to us about the resilience she needed on her first trip overseas, what makes her a "Macgyver mama", and why she thinks all New Zealanders have a voyager spirit within.

There's also talk of how she enjoyed a Magic Mike strip show in Las Vegas, but Stacey assures us it was only because of "the art"...

Once you've listened, please leave us a review and tell us some of your favourite destinations - we'd love to know where you're travelling, and where you're dreaming of.

  • Meet the 38-year-old CEO of a $400 million travel company, plus tips for being an ethical traveller
Each fortnight, Trip Notes hosts Stephanie Holmes and Tim Roxborogh are joined by a special guest to talk all about travel. On this episode, we're joined by James Thornton, CEO of Intrepid Travel, who tells us what it's like to be CEO of a global travel company with an annual revenue now well over $400 million. We also chat about his favourite places to travel, and some issues close to his heart.

Born in the UK, now based in Melbourne, James has been in the hot seat of Intrepid for more than three years, but has been with the company for more than 14. He says he loved travel from an early age and after starting his career path in investment management he realised "making rich people richer" was "a terrible way to exist professionally". He set out to find a job he was passionate about. "I was most definitely not good enough to play football for the England football team, so I pursued an interest in travel."

His first job with Intrepid was as a sales and marketing coordinator, and over the years he's risen through the business, taking on a number of different roles, before becoming the company's first non-founding managing director at the age of 31. Now 38 (he's had a birthday since we recorded this episode!), James is CEO of Intrepid Group.

We talk to James about some of the best places he's travelled - both for work and for pleasure - and the incredible experiences he's had over the years.

We also talk about the concept of "greenwashing" - what is it, why does it matter, and what do we, as consumers, need to be aware of when booking holidays and travel experiences.

Once you've listened, please leave us a review and tell us some of your favourite destinations - we'd love to know where you're travelling, and where you're dreaming of.
