LIT VERSE: Ephesians 3:20
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us.
Key Words:
Exceedingly Abundantly (4053)
Above the greatest abundance. Very Emphatic. Superabundant.
Ask (154)
Request, ask, beg. The seeking by the inferior from the superior. The beggar to the giver, by the child to the parent, by man from God. --- Jesus never used this particular word for ask, He always used (2065 erotao) which means equal. Jesus never begged for what He requested, rather he requested as an equal of the Father on behalf of Himself or His disciples.
Think (3539)
To put it all together and make out its meaning. Comprehend. Understand.
Power (1411)
Inherent power. Able, Capable. Faculty, Ability. Authority. Dominion.
Works (1754)
To be active and energetic. To effect, to prove oneself strong. It denotes the inspired prayer and productivity brought about by the operation or energy of the Holy Spirit. The result of being energized by God’s grace.
The crux of this verse is caught in the reality of “the power that works within us.” The more His power is at work within us the more we are released to the exceeding abundant reality of what God desires to be in your life. He desires to move us beyond our wildest expectations. I believe 2021 is a year of exceedingly abundant power, which will bring about an exceedingly abundantly greater outcome than we could beg to happen, or think possible otherwise.
Do not strive and struggle in your labor anymore. That is the old way. The new way is one of rest, peace, trust, and certainty. I have shown you time and time again that I am with you. Therefore you can be 100 percent sure that I am guiding your life. Lean into my power. Release the need to be in control. Do what I show you. That's it.
Rest in the power of God, knowing that He wants us to walk in the kind of light that transforms us and the dark world around us. It’s bigger than we think!
I AM GRATEFUL FOR… the love of God that gives people power from above to see greater things happen on this earth than we could ever imagine.
This is a year of exceedingly abundantly greater works than ever before, because the power of the Spirit is prompting and leading our every move. The presence of Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Gentleness, Faithfulness, and Self Control, indicate this to be true. If the Fruit is absent, then I must check my power source.
LIT VERSE: Psalm 119:165
Life is full of things that want to trip us up. Why are you tripping? What are you tripping on? Did you see the roadblock coming and trip over it anyway? Maybe you are navigating the obstacles without the right focus. Maybe you need to change your focus. Don’t make it so much about where you are going, but who you are going with. You want to spend time with those you love. You want to spend time doing the things you love. What do you love most right now?
Where is the Word in the mix of your love life? Do you love devotionals and podcasts more than you love the word? The way you know what you love most often is determined by what you are thinking about most or how much time you spend with what you love.
When you love My words, ways, wonders, and works, you will be in a safe zone. It’s not that things won’t come at you. It’s that these things won’t trip you up. You will not be affected by what is thrown at you when you place your highest love, attention, and priority on the Word. Jesus is the word. The bible reveals Jesus to us. It enables the truth of the Spirit and the power of the Spirit to transform our hearts.
Today I will stay close to the truth found in the lit words God speaks to my heart. These words bring about a safety and security that is free from failure and falling. There is no fear in this kind of love.
I AM GRATEFUL FOR… Lit Words
LIT VERSE: Psalm 119:130
The unfolding of your word gives light, it gives understanding to the simple.
When you are given a gift, it’s exciting to unwrap and discover what's inside. There is a mysterious sense of expectation for what is coming. We need to approach the word with the same excitement and expectation.
The word makes the simple spiritually smart. It’s like there is a dose of understanding and transformation hidden in every package. Each day as we sit before the word, it unfolds before us and has a mystery wrapped in it.
On Christmas we gave our daughter Bradlie a box with a folded up note in it. The outside of the folded paper said, “guess what?” Each day we need to think of coming to the word with this sort of Guess What expectation of good.
When you sit with me, I unfold mysteries and understanding before your eyes. I enlighten the eyes of your heart, which before the unfolding were dim, incapable of understanding, and far from my thoughts. It’s in My word that the simpleton is made spiritually smart.
Today I will dwell on the Lit Word and allow the Lit Word to dwell inside me. When the word dwells richly in me, then those around me will experience the light through me.
I AM GRATEFUL FOR… the unfolding of the word. I wait in expectation for what is unfolding before me.
LIT VERSE: 2 Timothy 2:19
Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”
LIT VERSE: 2 Timothy 2:4
No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer.
LIT VERSE: Luke 4:1-4
And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit returned from the Jordan river and was led about by the Spirit in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And He ate nothing during those days’ and when the days were up, he became hungry. And the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.” And Jesus answered him, “It is written, Man shall not live on bread alone.” …. Reference to the scripture that says “He shall live on every word that comes from the mouth of God.
This means war! Jesus was finalizing His warfare readiness. Now that I think about it, this is exactly what God was trying to teach me in the early days of being full of the Holy Spirit. I was charged and alive, full of life like never before when the attack came. I remember not knowing how to handle it. It was like my mind was taken over and assaulted, and I had no power to refute the lies that were in my head. God taught me that night early in my Spirit journey that there was a battle raging around me, and I had to be ready for it.
To be ready for war, you have to train. Jesus’ basic training was being led into a desolate place where he was all alone. He didn’t eat, so his body was weak. In the wilderness, and in his weakness, the devil brought the tests. The word tempt and test are similar in the bible. To be ready for war you have to know how to handle temptation in your weakness. You must be a tried and true warrior to make it through the challenges of your calling. The first thing the Devil does is attack Jesus’ identity by saying, “If you really are the Son of God.” Jesus knew He was, but the devil wanted to cause Him to question His calling. What was even sneakier is that he used the words of scripture to raise questions in Jesus’ mind. Jesus’ answers were classic in that He used scripture to refute the lies of the enemy.
The warfare training the Spirit put Jesus through looked something like this:
Here’s the deal. The battle wasn’t over but Jesus’ basic training was. The Spirit ensured Jesus was war ready before He allowed Him to take the next step of His calling. You have to be ready for war, because the devil is going to fight you when you step into your God-Given calling.
If you want to step fully into your calling, you have to be ready for war. If you don’t know how to handle the enemy, then you are set up for failure. It’s mission critical that you Train for War. This training involves trials that will test your character, competency, and calling. In order to live out your mission, you must go through the trials, learn to depend on the Spirit and the weapons of warfare that are not of this world. When you learn these things, you are battle ready and usable. At this point you can be put into service, because you have been taught to stand firm in who you were created to be. The demons will flee when you depend on heavenly resources to overcome your obstacles.
Today I will lean into my God-Given calling and identity and use heavenly weapons to battle hellish problems. I will continue to train for war by drawing near to the Spirit and I will begin to help others get War Ready.
I AM GRATEFUL FOR… the training I have walked in. That means I am grateful for the trials that lead to my active service.
LIT VERSE: 1 Corinthians 9:24 - 9:27
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
LIT VERSE: 2 Corinthians 9:10
Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness.
God is the seed supplier. When I follow Him, He supplies all we need. My job is to spread the seeds I have been supplied with. When I partner with the purposes of God, there is no shortage of seed. The Spirit will multiply the supply in order that I can spread the seed to all who need. When we are in agreement on our roles, the spirit supplies and I spread, then we multiply and increase the impact on the people of the land. I have to stay in my lane and know my role if I want to reach the goal.
Stay focused on the sowing of the seed to all I have shown you who need. Some are not yours to care for. Sow to the ones who are. Sow in the field I have given you today. Not in the fields that were yours yesterday or you think will be tomorrow. Take care of the land you have. He who tills his land will have plenty of food.
Today I will sow the seed I have been given. I will not try to force seeds to sprout. Rather, I will sow, water, and tend what I have been sowing.
I AM GRATEFUL FOR… seed to sow and fields that are ready. The supplier who multiplies the impact.
LIT VERSE: 2 Corinthians 5:7/17
There is beauty in the new. The old is gone. The past and its problems are no longer. What’s better than that? The old man is gone. The person is gone, the new person is here.
But how? Faith.
Faith Transforms the old to new. Belief in what Jesus accomplished and how it impacts you personally has the power to literally make you a new person. The old dies. The new awakens.
Knowledge is not awakening. Awakening does however unlock knowing. When you know Jesus, you awaken to His power; you have access to all the knowing. All seeing God shares His knowledge with you.
He brings you into a new dimension and He uses faith to do it. Therefore you need new eyes.
We no longer should look through our physical eyes the same way. We look at everything physically through the eyes of faith. We live by faith. Not by sight. We trade our strength. For His MIGHT.
How do you recognize yourself? Old or New, Clean or Dirty, Flesh or Spirit? Physical sight if primarily focused on can pull you down to earth, into the old way of thinking and living, with all of those ways nasty rewards and consequences. Faith however is a new view that has the potential to lift you up, out of the earthly realm and into the heavenly, creating a heaven on earth connection. Faith sight, the new view, is the corridor to the heavens.
Today I will look at life through the faith lens, with the new view. I will enjoy the scenery and rejoice in being a new creation.
I AM GRATEFUL FOR… The New View. Bye Bye Bad Sight, Hello Night Light
LIT VERSE: Galatians 3:5
Does He then, who provides you with the Spirit and works miracles among you, do it by works of the law, or by hearing with faith?
Belief is applied through Active Faith which makes the person applying faith a faithful one or believer. A believer is not one intellectually but one Actually. To be an Actual Believer means you Act in Faith and Activate the Spirit to work actively among you.
What kind of believer are you? Are you an intellectual believer or an Actual Believer? Does your life look like it? How should your life change to actively engage the Spirit today?
Today I will live as an actual believer by drawing near to the Spirit intimately, inwardly, personally, and in doing so not limit the Spirit intellectually from working powerfully within me.
The Spirit that God provided in abundant supply.
