Trophyz and Medalz Podcast

After a week off we give our Week 5 recaps and late game predictions. Are the cowboys the real deal? Saquon Barkley and Christian McCaffrey can't get right. Urban Meyers and John Gruden...what the hell y'all doing!?  In the NBA the Nets for now are preparing to miss Kyrie for a lot of games.  Also, how his cultural background plays into his thought process. Phoenix Suns might be on pace to mess up a good thing by not extending Ayton. Tyson Fury and Wilder fight does not disappoint.  But where does boxing go from here to keep up with MMA?  Finally we discuss the controversy in New Orleans of Sir Richard Branson "stepping" as a drum major with St. Aug's marching 100.  Finally we drop a teaser on a new branch of our podcast network!

What has Tony Love learned this episode:

Urban Meyers needs to go

Saquon Barkley's ankles could not handle the girth of his legs

Demaurice Smith held John Gruden's email in his back pocket

Kyrie little warrior mentality has worn out his welcome

SEC is not scared of Alabama

Recruits nee to accept when they have become Al Bundy

St. Aug is long overdue to make good on their donations

Week 3 in the NFL all of the cohosts' teams won their games.  Wasn't a good week for rookie QB's, none worse that Justin Fields and the bears.  After the Sixers were unable to get a trade they loved they tried to hit Ben Simmons with the "Hey big head" and he was not having it.  The city of San Francisco is mandating that players have the vaccine for all indoor games and Andrew Wiggins is trying to find a loophole.  With the warriors having a good team coming back it may hurt his cause to ever living up to being number one overall.  Kevin Durant is voted the number player in the league..kinda messed up (Greek Freak beat him on the way to a title)...but we understand.  Batman takes some heat for not being well versed in the Roots music.  We also discuss Kelly Price going MIA and how covid is impacting mental issue and leading people to more drinking.  Also, some doctors are taking a stand on treating anti-vaxxers/anti-maskers.

What has Tony Love learned this episode:

Taxes deserve to be cheated on every once in a while

Jason "The Clapper" Garrett will eventual take of the NY Giants

"You made me hurt you"

Who cares about Andrew Wiggins

Luka is not top 5....yet

Kids today can't take the heat (in sports)

Tony Love is only courageous in the moment

Covid also affects those with mental issues

Lets respect The Roots and their place in hip hop

In the NFL we recap the early games in week 2 filled with a few thrillers and blow outs. As far as our teams Raiders control a big game against the Steelers without their RB yet Tideking is not impressed. James swings back to his old ways with the Panther looking decent...Titans and King Henry stage a big comeback.  Vikings missed a kick at the end and lose. We discuss former NFL Wideout Chris Carter's interview and break down how money will only bring out more of what you already are.  It will also give you access to your vices in your region. Proposed Verzuz battles between two big time producers and two big time comedians is exposing arrogance or confidences? Tony Love continues to provide data for his 32 team college football playoffs.  Finally we explain how some parts of Louisiana would rather align with Baton Rouge than New Orleans.

What Tony Love learned this episode?

New Jeopardy topic....Things the ___ I mean Ben Rothlisberger would say

Mark Rypien was the last consistent quarterback for the Washington Football team

Green Bay has learned that "I am Aaron Rodgers and these are the Packers"

Nelly was only at the Verzuz for Ashanti

Diddy is the real life Candyman (dark stories)

Chilli overrated??

Katt Williams just want a grudge match with Kevin Hart

Can't trust a man with no facial hair/ New York Yankees

No one will let Oscar the Grouch come in their house and take a #2

The NFL is back and for most teams this first month will act as their preseason. Saints come out with a blast with their new arm and new pages in the playbook.  The Titans look bad on all levels.....told y'all it was too early to get excited. One of our favorite actors from The Wire Michael K. Williams passed and we speak on the reckless super early reports and the impact the pandemic are having on entertainers. Tide King and Tony Love have a mini debate explaining why he hasn't seen so many hood classics/didn't listen to much rap music.  Tony clearly explains his motivation (hint: Name of the podcast).  Finally we explain to those that don't live in New Orleans why we don't evacuate for every storm...it's simple math.

This week we point out how people on social media switched sides on Sha'carri Richardson after her latest defeat on the track.  What possible lead to the loss and how can she bounce back by the olympics.  We preview the NFC south and the NFC East.  We have multiple questions in New Orleans and coaching is key for the NFC East. A poll was released (for click bait) with 10 front office perosneell not giving Lebron a single vote as best player in the league.  Whats their motivation? Teams that have fallen to him on the court or in front office?  Lebron Fatigue? Or rebellion against him and Rich Paul? Or is it they simply just see him top 5 or top 3? Finally Tony Love drags us back into the rabbit who of a 32 team college football tournament.

NFL Preseason has kicked off with a lot of young quarterbacks showing their talents.   Some have brighter futures than others based on their team/situations.  Continue our NFL Preview we cover the AFC south...of course the Titans are expected to go 15-2 per Tony Love.  We tried to discuss the NFC West but it just kept leading to basketball talk.  Only thing we confirmed Kyler Murray at the moment is "what you see is what you get". Finally we try to get our Fantasy rules in order and make sure Raheem Goodell don't cheat us.

This week we go over some of the NBA free agency signing and what will be done with the tampering investigations.  We also have mixed feeling on Team USA winning gold in basketball. Verzuz battle got redesigned on the fly as the Lox used their teamwork to their advantage against the Dipset.  This makes us think who would have been better matchups for each group.  Part 1 of our NFL preview as we go thru AFC West/AFC East/NFC North.   Which was almost derailed by our disgruntled "former" Raider fan.

This week on the podcast we kick off the new sports year with the NBA draft.  We go over the top 5 picks and the impact they will make and how Orlando Magic did something right (maybe not on purpose).  With Westbrook going to the Lakers we ask the question...Will Westbrook average more rebounds than Anthony Davis?  Will Westbrook average more assists than Lebron?  Free Agency start this week and we come to the realization that a lot of players we thought shouldn't will be getting 20 mill per year.  In the NFL we go over some receivers making news for all the wrong reasons. Tony Love is excited to hear that the SEC is trying to expand and wants a 32 team "December Madness" for college football! Finally we discuss Simone Biles withdrawing from some events in the Olympics and the many layers that came with her decision and people's criticism.

The Bucks continue to fight and take a 3-2 lead over the Suns.  While the NBA Finals are going on Lebron drops a kids movie and grown men are taking this time to criticize to prove their GOAT point and it's disgusting.  All that said will this introduce today's kids to Looney Tunes?  The true stars of Space Jam 2. MLB had a shooting during a game that you can clearly hit on the broadcast.  Definitely not a hand gun so was this a hit/retaliation of some sort?  Cant even let the beef ride during work hours. We discuss the Richard Sherman situation and speculate what type of liquor he was on.  Good thing no one was hurt.  Finally would you take a hit over the middle from Ronnie Lott or a punch from Mike Tyson??

This week's podcast we start off with the NBA finals and the Suns up 2-0 over the Bucks (at the time of us recording Sunday afternoon).  Are the bucks watching Giannis in awe? Or are they being led by bad coaching.  We jump to international play with Team USA losing to Nigeria and how this will affect them long term in the olympics.  Zion's Mother bought a house in New Orleans and got a reality check that her money is not long enough to change up historical property.  We compare the state of UFC and Boxing versus the past and how they compare to Marvel and DC.
