CWA members struck in 9 states across the south and demonstrated with militant labor actions can accomplish. We also discuss the future of the labor movement in the south and how political tendencies among union members is changing through political education and class consciousness.

This week we sat down with Thomas Kennedy an organizer and activist with the Florida Immigrant Coalition and the Miami DSA to talk about the work they have been doing in south Florida to close the child concentration camps as well as their efforts to register voters across the state in the run-up to 2020. Later we discuss what is being done to shield immigrant communities from impending I.C.E. raids and what the seemingly dark future holds for the struggle for human rights here in the Sunshine State.

We sat down with Chef Rebecca Kelly-Manders to discuss the work she has been doing to give people who have committed felonies an opportunity to work, earn a living, and reorient themselves with the world after being released from prison. Her program has reduced the recidivism rate significantly among participants, and the mobile kitchen she has designed could become a model for criminal justice reform across the state and nation-wide.
