True Confessions with Lisa & Sarah episodes

  • E51: We have been guilty of only practicing grammar in therapy, not teaching it.

True Confessions with Lisa and Sarah has been on hiatus for a while, but are excited to be back in the Confessional with the one and only Bill Bolden!

We break down his January SLP Summit presentation, the mixed reaction to his live giveaway during his course, and the relationship between presenters who both speak and have products to sell. We also dive in to how to use a cycles approach to teach grammar, so we're not spinning our wheels in therapy. This approach can be used for all ages, so join us for this must-listen to podcast!

      • E49: We didn't always use a diagnosis to drive the treatment bus

In this episode, we chat with the amazing Cari Ebert about her journey in the field of speech pathology as well as her SLP Summit course (How to Prepare for Speech Therapy Using Principles of Motor Learning)! Cari gave us several nuggets of information, including how she made the shift from working from a strengths-based vs. deficits based approach with Autistic children, how SLPs need to use a diagnosis to drive the treatment bus, and how to assess and treat CAS (childhood apraxia of speech) for all children (including those with other diagnoses and children who are teenagers). We could have talked to her for hours! This episode is a must listen-to.

We have the amazing Rachel Dorsey in the confessional, and we are so excited! In this episode, we chat about her recent SLP Summit presentation on writing neurodiversity affirming IEP goals and the difficulty with sustaining masking behavior in Autistic individuals (which is what we traditionally see written in IEP goals).

This is an honest conversation about personal experience, perspective, how the title of our online conference The Equity Series triggered some negative responses, and most importantly why representation matters, and how and why you should diversify your library and practical ideas for literacy-based therapy.
