St. Croix County Sheriff's Deputy Kaitie Leising was shot and killed as she responded to a drunk driving call after a vehicle went into the ditch. The Wisconsin Department of Justice says the officer conducted field sobriety tests on the shooter, identified as 34-year-old Jeremiah Johnson, before returning to his vehicle. Authorities say Johnson was "evasive" during the interaction.

Eight victims died and a police officer killed the shooter in a mass shooting Saturday afternoon at the Allen Premium Outlets mall, according to police. Allen Fire Chief Jonathan Boyd said seven people, including the shooter, were dead at the scene and nine victims were taken by authorities to trauma centers. Two of the victims died after arriving at hospitals. Three of the surviving victims were in critical condition and in surgery, while four were stable as of Saturday evening. The Collin County Sheriff’s Office told WFAA-TV that the victims included children. Medical City Healthcare system said it was treating eight patients between the ages of 5 and 61. The ages and names of the victims who died have not been released.

One person is dead, four others are injured and a suspect is at large after a shooting inside a building in Midtown Atlanta, police said Wednesday."Officers are actively searching for the suspect and any other victims," the Atlanta Police Department wrote on Twitter. Northside Hospital said on Twitter the shooting happened at its midtown location.No additional shots have been fired since the initial incident, described as an "active shooter situation," unfolded, police said. The four injured people were taken to a hospital and one person died at the scene, police said. The suspect has been identified as Deion Patterson
