May 05, 2026 Star Wars Legend Roger Christian interviewed indepth by John and Frankie
Roger Christian was one of the first people hired by George Lucas to work on the original
Star Wars movie in 1976. Already a veteran of the British Film Industry at a young age, he
was assigned to be art director and set dresser for the film. Many of the elements in the
movie such as light sabers, robots, weapons and the Millenium Falcon fell to his department. On a very limited budget he was able to assist Lucas is creating many iconic items. Roger's
jounrey through Star Wars and George Lucas led him to win two Academy awards.

He also directed second unit on The Phantom Menace and Return of the Jedi.

Roger haswritten a book on his experiences entitled CINEMATIC ALCHEMY, abou his
work on Star Wars and other films. It's a must read for aspiring filmmakers.

John and Frankie spoke with Roger from his home in Toronto.

John Wesley Downey and Frankie Westmoreland go down the rabbit hole for over 45 minutes of discussion,, speculations and predictions about this movie which cost 200 million dollars to make and still required 15 million dollars worth of additional shooting not done by cedited director Antoine Fuqua. Not a hint of the accusations or events invovling Michael's involved with children is shown on screen and we'll dig in to discuss that and many other aspects of this mega hit which is packed wih musical landmarks from the Jacksons and AMichael Jackson himself.
