This may very well be the absolute best response to a request for a favor when you have to say no, but would like to say yes.

Books are beloved to me. Sometimes it takes only a single line or phrase in a book to convince me it’s worth purchasing and adding to my library because my bookcase is not complete without it.

At work I’m getting started with an ultra-busy week, which my team and I have been putting together for months. Sometimes getting too immersed into something skews my perspective of the situation and how well others understand or are prepared for it. I’ve got a little mantra that helps me get back on track in the event that I begin expecting too much of others or of myself.

Based on a true story: In 2nd or 3rd grade, I have a substitute teacher who taught me something that has stuck with me ever since. I’m not southern, and neither was the teacher, but I think this might be something school children are taught there, because it is about behind nothing by kind and charming.
