What happens when two young Black men are given the space to speak—not just about what they’re doing, but about who they are becoming?

For Episode 15 of Season 2 of TRUST, Then Know… The Jackie Boyd Podcast, I sat down with two very special young men: my son and my godson, ages 27 and 26.

And they opened up.

They talked about their goals. Their dreams. Their fears. Their mistakes. Their lessons. Their hopes for the future. But perhaps the most powerful question I asked them was this:

What would the 26- and 27-year-old men you are today tell the 16- and 17-year-old boys you once were?

Their answers were honest. Vulnerable. Thought-provoking. And, at times, deeply moving.

This conversation reminded me that behind the confidence, the accomplishments, the handsome smiles and the strength we see on the outside are young men who are still figuring life out—just like the rest of us.

And maybe that’s what makes this conversation so important.

May is the month we officially celebrate mothers, but the truth is, mothers should be celebrated every day of the year. We carry so many responsibilities while constantly caring for others that we sometimes feel guilty when we pause to rest. But we shouldn’t.

We deserve opportunities to rejuvenate, refresh, and simply feel good.

Advocating for, promoting, protecting and supporting fair housing is what we Realtist and REALTORS do consistently—often without even thinking about it. It is woven into the very fabric of the profession. Organizations like the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB) remain steadfast in its mission of “Democracy in Housing,” working tirelessly to ensure that the dream of homeownership is accessible to all, and turns from a dream into a reality for any and everyone  who desires to become a home owner.  

In honor of this, the TRUST, Then Know…The Jackie Boyd Podcast is re-releasing a powerful and timely episode—Season 2, Episode 7 - What’s In The House.  In this episode, we had the incredible opportunity to interview both the National President of NAREB, Mr. Ashley Thomas III and Jacksonville’s local board president Mr. Orlando J.
