  • Combatting Biblical Illiteracy
In many nations around the world, people are longing for the Scriptures. Many nations have forbidden the Bible and it's a crime to possess a copy or to even have a Bible app on one's phone. Here in the United States, the Scriptures are readily available, Bibles are plentiful, and you can go to many bookstores or chain retail stores and obtain a copy. But amidst this land of plenty there is actually a spiritual famine in the land which has resulted in great biblical illiteracy. Jesus says in Luke 6:46, "And why call ye me Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" But friends how can we do what God wants if we neglect His Word? An important question must be asked at this point: "When was the last time you read from the Bible?" Some of you can readily say, "I did so this morning," or "I did so last night." Others may say, "Well, I listened to my pastor read it this past Sunday. Does that count?" Yet others, if you're being truthful will say, "Jim, it's been a long time." At the same time, many have fallen into the habit of no longer carrying a Bible to church. Some folks just pull out their phones and there it is. Yet, their minds get distracted as a text, an appointment reminder, or a news bulletin comes in. Dr. Woodrow Kroll, the former Bible teacher at Back to the Bible once said, "I remind you that God wrote a Book; and He only wrote one. I wonder what we'll say to Him at the Judgment Seat of Christ if He asks us, "Did you read My Book? I mean one time in your entire life did you read My whole Book?"

  • Devo 86: Should I Study False Religions
The devotional presents a clear warning against the study of false religions and spiritual systems, grounded in biblical principles from Joshua and David, who both forbade engagement with the worship and names of foreign gods. Drawing from personal experience and real-life testimonies, the message emphasizes that exposure to false teachings—even for the purpose of comparison or understanding—can erode spiritual sensitivity and lead to spiritual compromise. The preacher advocates for a focused devotion to Scripture, asserting that deep familiarity with God's truth equips believers to recognize and resist falsehood through the Holy Spirit's guidance. Rather than relying on cultural or superstitious practices, such as ritual anointing or ancestral customs, the sermon calls for a reliance on divine authority, prayer, and the cleansing power of Christ to overcome spiritual oppression. Ultimately, the central message is that truth, not error, must be the foundation of a believer's life, and spiritual discernment comes not from studying deception, but from abiding in God's Word.

  • Lesson 8 New Mercies Every Morning
This week we look at hope spoken from the ruins — Jeremiah, having lost nearly everything, declaring that God's mercies are new every morning and His faithfulness is great. We'll explore what it means to find your portion in God Himself when everything material has been lost, and why this hope doesn't wait for circumstances to improve first.

  • DNA: The Language of God
The sermon argues for intelligent design by highlighting the intricate complexity of human DNA as evidence of God's authorship, directly refuting evolutionary theory. It draws parallels between the structured coding of genetic material and biblical truths, emphasizing that every individual is a purposeful 'living stone' in God's spiritual house. The preacher warns against theological skepticism and cultural shifts that undermine the family unit, urging believers to trust in their divine significance rather than secular narratives. Ultimately, the message affirms that human existence is intentional and sacred, inviting listeners to find comfort and identity in their created value.

  • Faith-Filled Trademarks
Faith-Filled Trademarks This message from 1 Thessalonians 1 centers on the truth that when God genuinely saves a person, His saving work leaves recognizable trademarks upon that life. These marks do not earn salvation; they reveal that Jesus has taken possession of a person and that the Holy Spirit is producing a new direction, allegiance, purpose, and hope. Paul points to the Thessalonian believers as an example or imprint of what gospel transformation looks like. The gospel did not come to them as words only, but "in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and in much assurance." Paul, Silas, and their companions preached Christ, opened the Scriptures, and demonstrated through their own lives that they were fully persuaded of the gospel they proclaimed. The Spirit then worked in the hearers, convincing them of their need and bringing Christ to light so that they could receive the message by faith. One of the first trademarks was that they gladly received the Word. They welcomed what God revealed without placing restrictions upon Him. Their circumstances were difficult—they received the Word "in much affliction"—yet the Holy Spirit supplied joy. Genuine faith does not mean the absence of trouble; it means that Jesus becomes more precious than the trouble is powerful. The great evidence of their conversion is found in the statement that they "turned to God from idols." Their first movement was toward God. Seeing the worth of Christ exposed the worthlessness of what they had previously worshiped. Biblical repentance and faith therefore belong together: faith turns to Christ, and in turning to Christ we necessarily turn away from whatever competes with Him. Zacchaeus illustrate

  • The Final Judgment
This sermon addresses the inevitability of death and the subsequent final judgment before Jesus Christ, emphasizing that every individual will stand alone before God. The speaker highlights two promised disclosures where hidden truths are revealed and God's character is vindicated against accusations of allowing evil. Central to the message is the distinction between relying on personal righteousness versus trusting in God's word through faith, as illustrated by Abraham and Habakkuk. The preacher urges listeners to recognize the gravity of eternal destinies—either heaven or hell—and to seek forgiveness through Christ before that day arrives. Ultimately, the sermon serves as a pastoral call to repentance, offering assurance of boldness for those who have placed their faith in Jesus.
