  • The Spirit's Work
    The Spirit's Work The central truths of this message is that the Holy Spirit makes all the difference between merely hearing about Jesus and truly seeing, receiving, believing, loving, and following Him. In John 14–18, on the final night before the cross, Jesus prepares His disciples for His departure by promising "another Helper," the Spirit of truth. Jesus had been their Teacher, Comforter, and Guide beside them; after His death, resurrection, and ascension, the Spirit, who dwelled among them would now dwell within them, continue Christ's work among them, and above all glorify Jesus. The world's problem is deeper than a lack of information. Jesus says the world cannot receive the Spirit because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. Humanity is spiritually blind and hard-hearted. We cannot circumcise our own hearts, remove our own heart of stone, give ourselves spiritual sight, or raise ourselves from spiritual death. Those are works only God can accomplish. The Spirit opens what sin has closed. He reveals Christ, changes the heart, redirects our affections, and enables us to respond to Jesus in faith and repentance. That helps explain Jesus' promise, "The world will see Me no more, but you will see Me." The Spirit makes Christ known to His people. Being part of the Body of Christ is not merely knowing facts about a historical Jesus; it is knowing the risen Christ, being joined to Him, and living because He lives. When the Spirit reveals Jesus, what we see changes who and what we love, and who and what we love changes how we live. Jesus becomes more valuable than family approval, social acceptance, position, comfort, or reputation. John 12 gives a sobering example of th

  • Mass Deliverance vs. the Gospel: A Biblical Response
    Dawn Hill examines the teaching and practice of mass deliverance within the modern deliverance movement and compares its claims with the clear teaching of Scripture. Dawn addresses the belief that Christians can have indwelling demons, along with teachings concerning generational curses, chronic illness, demonic affliction, spiritual open doors, manifestations, and repeated deliverance sessions. She also examines several passages commonly used to support these ideas, showing why biblical context matters when considering Job, 1 Peter 5, Ephesians 2, John 5, John 10, and Matthew 12. Rather than directing Christians toward continual deliverance sessions, Scripture points believers to the finished work of Christ, the indwelling Holy Spirit, biblical sanctification, and the gospel that truly delivers sinners from the domain of darkness. Dawn concludes by considering Acts 2 and the three thousand souls saved through the proclamation of the gospel, reminding Christians that true freedom is found in Jesus Christ. • True Biblical CHARITY - the Pinnacle of Perfection in the Christian Life
    The message emphasizes that the King James Bible's exclusive use of the word 'charity' in 1 Corinthians 13 denotes the highest form of self-sacrificial love for fellow believers, distinct from modern philanthropy. After refuting the common misinterpretation of spiritual gifts, particularly tongues, by Pentecostal movements, and clarifying that the body of Christ refers to the local visible assembly rather than a universal invisible church, the preacher emphasizes that while doctrinal truth is essential, it must always be expressed with charity to avoid becoming empty noise or causing division. True Christian maturity is defined not by miraculous gifts but by the enduring virtue of self-sacrificing love, which surpasses faith and hope as the greatest attribute of the believer.

  • Beware of false teachers
    ~~~~~~~ No 28 in the series - The Epistles of Peter. ~~~~~~~ **Considering 2 Peter 2:1-3** But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. *1/ There were and will be false teachers. 2/ The influence they will have. 3/ The methods they will use.* **Sermon Summary:** This sermon issues a solemn warning to believers about the presence and danger of false teachers within the church. Drawing primarily from 2 Peter chapter 2, the text highlights how these individuals creep in unawares, promoting damnable heresies and exploiting congregants through covetousness and feigned words. The message emphasizes the critical need for spiritual discernment to distinguish between genuine doctrine and deceptive error, noting that false teachers often mimic true prophets and promise peace without requiring repentance. It urges the audience to test all teachings against Scripture rather than relying on a teacher's reputation or popularity. Ultimately, the sermon calls for vigilance to protect the truth of the Gospel and ensure personal fidelity to Christ amidst spiritual deception.
