  • The Lord's Supper: Transubstantiation?

In this episode of Truthspresso Express I analyze arguments for the Roman Catholic dogma of transubstantiation while driving to work in the morning and from work in the evening.

Does John 6 teach the we must literally eat Christ's flesh and drink His blood?

Is a metaphor a "literal" understanding of "This is My body"?

This episode is inspired by the recent episode of Theology Throw Down in the Christian Podcast Community.

  • The Triumphal Entry

Chelsea and I begin with by talking about our crazy day (Saturday). Our water heater broke and was leaking while Chelsea was engaged in an unexpected spiritual battle. We mentioned the End Abortion Now event at the Colorado capital. We planned to go to it but the water heater issue kept us home.

Then, we talked about the events surrounding the Triumphal Entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. We discussed the significance of the donkey, the palm branches, Lazarus, and the politics of the day. In some ways we see how the hearts of Jesus' enemies plotting His death are similar to today's culture.

  • Some Yap About That Slap

In this episode of Truthspresso Express I talk about the now infamous incident from the Oscars on Sunday when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock.

Just some casual thoughts about why I don't think it was staged and where I pick sides (or not).

  • Colorado Passes Its Radical Abortion Bill!

HB 22-1279, also known as the "Reproductive Health Equity Act" went through the Colorado Senate floor this last week. This bill is designed to legalize all abortions anytime anywhere for any reason up until birth and possibly afterwards.

The language of this evil bill is intentionally broad and ambiguous. Senate Republicans offered a plethora of amendments to limit the bill or clarify the language. Democrats wouldn't budge on a single word of the bill.

Chelsea and I review the debate and most of the amendments. From simply requiring "sterile instruments" to protecting free speech, the radically pro-abortion Democrats defied all reason for their holy grail.

As of this recording, the bill will soon arrive at the governor's desk and he is committed to signing it. Please pray for the state of Colorado! We must speak truth in love and have faith that God is sovereign.

  • Colorado's Radical Abortion Bill!

Colorado Democrats are afraid of Roe vs. Wade being overturned this year. So afraid, in fact, that they are trying to ram through a radically evil abortion bill!

HB 22-1279, also known as the "Reproductive Health Equity Act" would enshrine into statute abortion on demand for any reason with no restrictions using any means up until birth (and quite possibly beyond). It is unclear even from the legislators whether a human has the rights claimed in the bill until he or she can exercise such reproductive rights.

The Colorado House and Senate each heard over nine hours of truth in testimonies against this awful bill. They heard how this bill will enable human trafficking and abuse and butcher unborn (and possibly born) babies. They heard the gospel as well!

Chelsea herself testified against the bill in the Senate hearing. We play the clip of her testimony in this episode.

Please pray for God's mercy and justice!

  • Is the Bible a Manual for Terrorism?

Since I am starting to recover from a cold and voice is not at the moment all it's cracked up to be (it mostly just cracks), I got permission from Andrew Rappaport to re-air an episode of the Rapp Report from July 4, 2021 entitled "National Strategy for Counter Terrorism Against Christians."

It's certainly eye-opening for those of us expecting to live in "the land of the free," but, as Christians, we already know our battle against "spiritual wickedness in high places" will be ever before us until the last day.

Also, keep Andrew in your prayers as his mother recently passed away. He shared the gospel with her multiple times and she repeatedly rejected it. Only God knows what was in her heart in her final breaths.

  • Differences or Divisions: Understanding Your Spouse

Chelsea and I chat more about how husbands and wives can get along and make the most of their marriage. Understanding common differences that often manifest themselves between men and women can help communication and prevent arguments.

    We observe helpful differences in

    1. Psychology
    2. Brain structure
    3. Communication

Becoming aware of our differences as how God made us can help us appreciate our spouse as we take time to talk.

  • Before You Say "I Do"

Chelsea and I went to a marriage retreat this last weekend. Some of what we heard makes it way into our discussion.

We direct this episode mostly toward engaged couples to prepare Biblically for marriage.

We encourage premarital counseling, but show the difference between secular and Biblical questions.

If you're getting close to that wedding day, understand how being married is very different from the single dating stage.

We wrap up by looking at marriage advice from older veterans of the craft.

  • "The Cave: When Ministry Becomes Misery" with Pastor Scott Distler

Scott Distler, pastor of Gaylord E-Free Church joins me to talk about his book The Cave: When Ministry Becomes Misery.

Pastor Scott shares his testimony of how his apparent ministry success quickly turned into misery through betrayal.

After the prophet Elijah scored a miraculous victory against the prophets of Baal, he soon found himself hiding in a cave asking God to end his life.

This "cave" experience is what Pastor Scott wants to help us recognize and endure with humility and faith.

    Scott Distler

Scott Distler is the lead pastor at Gaylord E-Free Church (a multi-campus church with campuses in Gaylord and Sault, Michigan). He holds a Pastoral Ministries degree and a Masters in Religion from Liberty University. Scott has served a role of pastor in Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and now Michigan.
