Could you imagine doing something you’re passionate about every single day for the rest of your life?
I’m going to go through 4 simple steps to help you find your passion.
I would like to preface this talk with the fact that I do not like the phrase “finding your passion”. Like it’s some hidden thing deep down inside of you that you need to, like scour the earth to find, and finally uncover, like you have some hidden talent, that you’re like an expert cellist.
Okay, so a lot of people that you see that are really good at what they do, started when they were really young. For example. My brother was absolutely amazing at Art. He could sculpt, he could do charcoal drawings, he could paint, he could do 3D renderings. It blew my mind how talented this guy was. The one thing I didn’t think about was the fact that he’d been doing it since he was a wee little pup and when he was small he made really crappy drawings like a brontosaurus with four legs going this way. Definitely two dimensional, definitely a step in the right direction, but his his first drawing sucked. He kept doing what he liked, doing every single day. He would just sit down and draw and doodle and draw and doodle and over the course of his life 29 years. He became ridiculously, ridiculously, good at what he was doing. So people always thought he found his passion. He’s gifted at Art, they would say. No! absolutely wrong. He started doing something he enjoyed he got really good at it over time, and that’s when he realized he was passionate about it.
Step 1 — Grab your phone, or if you don’t have a phone, grab your friend’s phone. Go to the wonderful website of Wikipedia. In the Wikipedia search bar look up list of hobbies. Scroll down and look at every single hobby that’s on that list. Write down any hobbies that pique your interest. Also, if you can’t figure out what hobbies pique your interest, go to your Instagram account, look on the little search thing. That’s the explore tab, and in there, it will show you a list of pictures that are related to pictures that you’ve liked over time. This is basically Instagrams algorithm to show you what you actually like, what you liked, or the things you’re interested in. Quick hack
Step 2 — Once you have a list of all of the hobbies that piqued your interest, spend one week doing each of the Hobbies. I’m telling you right now. You will figure out very quickly if you like them or not
Step 3 — After you finish your entire list, and did each thing for a week. Choose the one that made you the most happy.
Step 4 — Do that one thing that made you the most happy for six months straight. I promise you after six months, you will have become a very proficient in that thing.
If that one thing makes you really really happy forget everything else, you’ve already won, like 80% of people have not found that one thing that makes them happy and you already did it in four simple steps.
If all you’re looking for is happiness in your life. Stop reading this blog and go look on Wikipedia find that thing and start doing. If after six months you still love doing it come back, watch this video, or podcast or blog, and leave a comment or smash the thumbs up button right now.
