Canucks Director of Amateur Scouting Judd Brackett says Vasili Podkolzin's value at #10 was too much to pass on, adding he hits on so many things they were looking for in terms of his compete level, his size and the determination to go with the skill. Judd also says Nils Höglander is an exciting player and the minute you see him play, it's the quickness, the speed & the hands that could be the best in the draft.

Andrea Neil says it's a heavy responsibility to put the situation of a penalty kick at the World Cup on the shoulders of Janine Beckie because you'd want someone who has been in that situation to take the kick. Andrea says there are great players that are coming up in the Canadian system and they are all 24 and under, and she considers those players no where close to their peak.

TSN1040's Jeff Paterson didn't like how the Canucks tried to sell the J.T. Miller trade by throwing in the conditional draft pick at the end of the press release and not stating that it was a first round pick because again, it shouts mixed messaging from the organization. Jeff says Jim Benning says he has a plan but that plan hasn't been articulated very well to the fanbase which is why mixed messaging continues to be an issue.

TSN1040's Giulio Caravatta says he's looking forward to see who responds for the BC Lions after back to back losses to open the season. Giulio does say it's frustrating, but it will take time for the defence to gel because a Rich Stubler defence has a lot of moving parts and there needs to be a ton of communication between every player.
